Most Embassies/Consulates will use the I-864's instructions for guidance on this - they say, must be 18 years old.

Just a side note though: Depending on which Embassy/Consulate you're going to go through, you may want to chose your co-sponsor carefully - some will not accept a co-sponsor who is not (for example) a direct family member. So if you've got a very young co-sponsor, think about it before you commit.

I was 20 when I did my first one, so I know it's not 21. It's probably 18.

It is 18, but I think that if you are filing for a country that is worried about fraud if you are only 18 to 20 good luck. Most people that young are thought of as being a little bit immature or not as ready for such a long and hard commitment. I think this thinking is bull, but if you look at the divorce rate in America with people under 21 there might be some fact to it. Good luck though

For a K visa through HCMC the petitioner must be able to qualify as the financial sponsor. For 2009 that amount for a 3 person household is $22,887 annually.

If the petitioner isn't earning that amount then they should secure a second job or higher wages ASAP.

Do the CR1. You won't have to deal with the stupid I-134 and the CO's opinions about "public charge". Instead, you'll do the I-864 which has very specific guidelines and rules. Your new wife will also get a green card soon after arriving in the US - no AOS process to go through. Make sure you have all of your documents in order, and give yourself a few weeks to get all of the legal BS completed. Getting married in VN is a pain in the rear for foreigners.

I'm going back when my fiancee gets her interview, which is likely to be in November sometime. I'll probably be there for two or three weeks, with about half the time in HCM and half in Hue.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

what about this single status paper? how do i get that? can anyone tell me the marriage process.

Single Status = CONG HAM DOC THAN,

It's better for you to let the experts taking care this, the total cost should be $450 for single status. I did try to do it myself. waste my time, and the costs are the same thing.

Single Status process.

1. Go to your local CIVIL COURT, obtain a single status, and you need to NOTARIES. requested single status cost = $36, Notaries = $40

2. Turn in to your SECRETARY OF STATE Department. For me I have to go to Los Angeles at 8:00 AM in the morning, standing and wanting online take atleast 4-6 hours. This cost about $50

3. After that submit all your paperwork to VN consulant in SF or Virginia. Cost = $100.

I finally let someone else did it for $450, remember, my paperwork is more than 1 1/2 year, and I am not really know how much will it cost now. It's better to let someone work on your single status, unless you have all the time to do it.

good luck.
