Moved and Married...Finally

 Woohoo, I can now finally say that my fiance and I are finally husband and wife. It feels so great to finally be "home" together.

But here is a recap of my border crossing. I crossed at Grand Portage (Pigeon River) by Thunder Bay. The gaurds were all very friendly. I pulled my vehicle and UHaul into the lot and went inside for processing. None of the gaurds had processed a K-1 visa, so the poor gaurd who was assigned to me asked everyone if they had done a K-1 before and all said no, so out came the manual. But in less than an hour I had my passport stamped and I-94 in hand and on my way. All that they did was look at my packing list, inside my uhaul and vehicle, 2 mins worth and I was on my way.

Unfortunatly, when I arrived 1 full day later in Colorado, I looked at my I-94 closer and realized that even though the gaurd stamped my passport K-1, he printed K-2 on the I-94, and then drew in pen a line down the middle of it, trying to make it a one. I called the POE and a supervisor called me back and said , the officer made a goof, but that they went and made sure that in the system I was a K-1 and all was ok. So I hope that it won't cause issues with my AOS process. I think it is obvious anyways when they see that I am 32 and obviously not the child of a K-1 visa holder. But we will start the AOS process this week and find out I guess.

We finally had our wedding this past Saturday. It was a wonderful outdoor ceremony with close friends and family. Perfect weather, amazing food and lots of laughs. Ahhh, it just feels wonderful to finally fall asleep together. For anyone getting frustrated with the wait and all the paper work for the visa....hold on, it is more than worth it, if you love your finace with all your heart and sole. 6-9 months is a drop in the bucket compared to the years you will share together.

Well, I will update as the AOS process continues. Till then , good luck to everyone going through the process.

Congratulations!! and all the best to you and your husband!!

That is what kept me sane as well throughout this process.....6-9 months of this #######....and almost 5 months of separation in return for a lifetime of happiness and a beautiful wedding that close family and friends can share with us.

Congratulations on your long anticipated border crossing. I wouldn't worry about the stamp issue. Best wishes for continued happiness now that you're married. Your ceremony sounds lovely. (F)

Aww, congratulations! That is a great review of the POE and your wedding.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
