Mikey's theory and there's the mention of a 'priority date' that I don't think effects Cr1/IR1 and such but I'm curious as to what it does mean. On our NOA2 it says March 17, 2009 and yet, our NOA1 wasn't recieved until March the 24 and we were approved June 25 so... just curious if anyone knows, what this means...

I know that Mikey and Trailmix ixnayed it as being a real relevance but I was/am just curious.

So, if anyone has an idea, that'd be great as...

inquiring minds wanna know.

The question is, what date did you mail or courier your I-130?

Priority Date link

In the USCIS Immigrant visa petition application process, the priority date is the date the petition was filed. If the alien relative has a priority date on or before the date listed in the visa bulletin, then he or she is currently eligible for a visa.

Aha... finally the answer!

I guess it was mailed on the 17 of March and entered in on the 24th. So it's basically just saying, yep, here's the date you were made technically eligible for a visa? Or something as such...

Thank you. That was exactly what I wanted to know.

Just thought I would slap this in here for anyone interested:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_4427.html

Not sure if I totally get what's going on there but I figured if I asked this question, someone else will and then they'll ask, what's the Visa Bulletin...

Basically the priority date is the date of your priority to get a visa. Because we mostly deal with spouses or fiance(e)s here at VJ, there is no limit to the number of these types of visas that can be issued each year, so it's kind of a non-issue.

However, let's say that you are a U.S. Citizen and you want to sponsor your unmarried son or daughter who is a Canadian citizen. Then the priority date would be very important. You would look at the priority date on their NOA and then reference the Visa Bulletin, to see what dates USCIS is currently processing.

So for instance, if you got their NOA today and the priority date is August 10th, 2009 - you would look at their category on the visa bulletin - (they would fall under category 1st) and you would see that they are currently processing people with priority dates of May 15th, 2003. So you would know that, roughly, you can expect the file to start moving again in about 6 years.

Just ignore the "priority date". You are in the IR/CR-1 category. It means you do not have to wait for a visa to become available.

Thanks all... I realize that now and basically, just wanted to know what if was for and if it had anything to do with anything. I am well informed now which is what I was hoping to achieve...

Mikey78 will probably be more interested in the priority date thing if he isn't already well in the know.

Thanks again all...

LOL, if this date had no significance for the processing of CR/IR it would not be there, and on top of it it would not be called 'priority date'...for whatsoever reason it is there (probably to control the total processing time in reporting statistics). I never said it's function is the same in all the categories. But I just said that it is probably one of the criteria taken into consideration while scheduling appointments, as I was told.

I think MAST is the most controversial theory in the history of VJ :P if it causes so much anxiety, let's just wipe out the whole thread and use crystal ball instead, or palm reading, astrology or anything more esoteric :D

Nooooooo!

I like having stuff to read/stress/fret and ponder! Something has to take the place of my daily phone call to the NVC...

Though I did call today, spoke to someone named Lisa who totally answered the phone, Good morning, NVC... I was like, um... "Want my case number?"... we had a laugh about how she's worked there for years, hadn't had any coffee yet...

but she, like all the other hundreds I've talked to say, no scheduling 'til second week of the month. FYI...

Anyway, hypothesizing works for me, I like to ponder.

Take care all..
