POE - when leaving Montreal

I am in an odd situation. I will be having my interview in Montreal August 7th. Then I will be flying to Kentucky (through Chicago) when I leave (presumably with my visa). Where will my POE be?? Is there US immigration in Montreal airport (as there is in Vancouver) or will I be landing in Chicago (in which case I may not have enough time between flights)?? I also assumed I would not necessarily have to "land" on that trip but could instead wait until I returned to Vancouver (my home) a week later, then take a quick trip around the Peace Arch to land. Is that an erronesous assumption.

Anyone have any experience to offer??
