CONGRATULATIONS!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Mabrook !!!!

Ramadan Mubarak :)

I am about to embark on the same journey with my fiance and I pray that we have the same success as you. I just returned from Egypt and I will be returning soon isa to marry my fiance.

Can I ask your advice.

First of all, did your fiance live in Egypt with you and where did the file the forms from the USA or in Egypt ?

I really want to be with my future husband during our wait but I read that I have to live in Egypt for 6 months before we can file there.

Also , he has not completed his military yet.. will this effect him getting the visa?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your quick reply.

We want to get married so that I can still visit and that I can visit him during our wait and legally be together there. So, I think we too will apply for the CR1 after we are married.

Fortunately, I work form my computer so this enables me to travel.

As far as his military is concerned he is on a postponement. He is the oldest son with two brothers and a sister. Hi father passed away God bless his soul.

Do you think that we can start the cr1 even though he hasn't fulfilled the military and only has postponement papers?

Shokran for your help

First, congratulations!

Second, are you saying that an Egyptian man married to a foreign (non-Egyptian) woman will not have to complete Army service? I'm asking because you answer isn't clear.

Have you considered living in Egypt for the six months it takes to establish residency then file from here? DCF is typically a lot less painfull than filing from the US because proof of a bonifide relationship is not as difficult. It also eliminates the separation while you're waiting. Just a suggestion.

Yes, I have thought about that option and I am just trying to gather enough information to see which option is the best for us. I love Egypt and would be all for waiting there with him

I think the military issue is the biggest problem that we are facing now and I am trying to see what our options are. He has a year and a half left on his postponement. If he has to serve it you can tack on 3 years to the waiting which obviously we don't want to do. so I am searching the most sensible solution.

All suggestions and advice is greatly appreciated :)

yes, that is what he thought about the military... that he would get postponed longer because of his younger brothers schooling .. unfortunately his brother did not apply for the college in time and tat is why they only gave him a short postponement. He doesn't think that they will change it now even if his brother applies to the university... I would very much appreciate it if he could call and talk to you about it. If you dont mind giving me your number that would be great .. thanks so much for your kindness :)

his postponement is 5 years or 3 years?

if u decide marry all this will not be issues coz as i told u egyptian army dont ask men marry to forgiens

,in case u decide K1 for fiance so if his postponement is 5 years he ill go army after this be end

his postponement is 3 years he will not go army at all and will get the finial certs record from army

anyway dont worry about nothing every thing will be done on time ISA

This is what I thought you were saying, that's why I asked for clarification. I don't know where you are getting your information from, but that information is wrong. Egyptian men married to non-Egyptian women DO have to complete military service if they are otherwise obligated. This MENA/VJ family just witnessed Olivia's wait for her own Egyptian husband to complete his service. Go back to the person who told you this and tell them they are wrong, wrong, wrong because they are wrong.
