Dear friends,

Can some one tell me is there an age restriction to file K1 Visa? I meet a girl who is 17 years old, we like each other so much. Now, I want to file K1 visa for her to come to US. My question is since she is 17 year old, Can I still file for K1 Visa for her?

TIA

Dave

You can file the petition that would allow her to apply for the K-1. However, clear, written and signed, and notarized, evidence of parental permission for her to marry will be necessary. Can you wait until she is of legal age?

She must be free to marry. This means 18 or have parental permission if such is allowed in your state. VietNam is a tough consulate to deal with and you had better well document your relationship very well. "liking each other very much" WILL NOT cut it. You should also ask advice from successful visa holders who have gone through VN. There is a LOT to deal with. Of course you must first ahve met in person and with the VN consulate, meeting one time usually will not cut it. You may get a petition approved and then get denied at the consulate. An approved petition does NOT equal a visa. You will ned to read well past the petition requirements. Get details from our VN members.

I see that the OP has listed Vietnam. If that is where she lives, there are several things you will need to show the consulate. Spend some time reading in the Asia:East & Pacific regional forum to gain some insight into what is expected at HCMC.

I second that!!!! Read the Asia:East & Pacific regional forum as much as you have time to, then make more time and read more..:guides:. going through this and especially dealing with HCMC is not something to be done on a whim... Feel it, Know it, Prove it..... and when you tink you have enough proof.. get more!
