August 26th (or July 7th on lunar calendar) is Chinese traditional Valentine's Day [Double Seven/Qixi Festival 七夕節]. Anyone besides me sending a gift?

This year has been very hard for me to nail down the exact date - it always falls on the 7th day of the 7th Lunar month but depending on which source that you look at, that translates into either Aug. 20 or Aug 26th this year. So I thought that I would be safe and give my wife her flowers and chocolates tomorrow :D

nice thing to do, but I believe most chinese don't even know about it. maybe the older generation but my survey is that most only know about Feb 14th!

You're kidding right? I think many more Chinese know about Qixi Festival than the American Valentine's Day, by far.

If your girl is in any of the major cities, they know about it...trust me. There are lots of advertisements running in Chongqing and Shanghai that I have seen. Candle for Love has a discount through a supplier: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11002

The prices are exceptional and it does work. It is hard to beat these prices..and what better way to surprise your sweetheart than flowers....of course you will probably be told it is a "waste of money." :)
