Need advice before trip to Morocco

I was referring to the stephanieh girl's post. I don't know her story but I refuse to believe ppl are in the dark about scams prior to it going down. There are signs even if they're subtle. If you're paying for EVERYTHING and standing by being the "good wife" while he's out getting his degree or saving/sending *all* of his money and you're spending *all* of your money then something's up. If a guy cheats or goes out drinking all the time, somethings up. If a guy is obsessed with online porn and/or he's having cyber sex with various chicks while you're out supporting everyone, somethings up. Just a few scenarios of what I've seen on this forum. Basically, if things are suspicious and you still pursue AOS then I believe that's your fault. I have no sympathy for those who turn a blind eye to bullshitt then cry when the guy up and leaves.

To the OP, you never answered...were you formally invited to Maroc or did you invite yourself?

Dont be so harsh on Stephanie, I've known her since before her husband got here (he arrived just 2 weeks after mine) and we have stayed in pretty close touch through these years. Although their marriage wasnt perfect (are any of ours???) it certainly wasnt glaring with signs that she was being used. I personally didnt see it coming, right up until the last few months and then he literally became another person. Not everyone who gets duped is a stupid jackass who deserves what she gets for burying her head in the sand.....

I agree with you to a point, and LORD knows I've seen some stories on here that in my opinion couldnt be more blatant, but there is a lot of gray area. Pretty much every marriage has some rocky points, and as we have all discussed there is the potential for extra rockiness when you throw in culture shock and immigration stress. So maybe some of these situations are clear as day in hindsight but it didnt look that way in the middle of it...

You do know that Moroccans and other Arabs are very hospitable and will invite you to visit their country, that doesn't mean they're really serious. If I went to every country I was invited to I'd have a full passport by now.

I don't know why he invited me, but regardless if there is no chance of a relationship with him in the future, I still feel we are good friends. I have known him now about 6 months, and he has stated that he considers me to be more than a friend. I do nothing for him, so I know he is not using me, yet he puts for the effort everyday (or practically everyday) to contact me either my phone, email or IM. So to answer your question, I would consider going because I would be able to see a part of the world I may not otherwise see or go to.
