DS-156 Question

My fiance and I are beginning to fill out forms for a K1 Fiance visa with hopes of getting married soon.

I've been looking over form DS 156 and I really don't know how to fill out the "Have you ever been in the US" question. I live in a border city (Windsor-Detroit) and cross over to Detroit all the time. It would be impossible for me to fill this out as I don't keep records of such things and really neither do the border guards (they don't stamp your passport or anything).

How should I fill out this section? I have looked at the sample one provided by visa journey, but it seems to be someone who has only been to the US twice, rather than sometimes twice a week...

attach an extra sheet with the question and explain that you frequently go into detroit. trust me they can look it up in the computers at the poe. always be truthful and honest even if you cannot remember all the details / frequency of your visits.

I attached a separate sheet of paper and listed all the dates I could remember within the last 5 years. I also wrote

"These are, to the best of my ability, the dates I traveled to the United States between ______ and _____. Being Canadian, I am not required to have visa to visit the United States and was frequently not issued one, therefore I have made multiple trips to the United States for day or weekend trips in which my passport was not stamped. However, each trip lasted less than 3 weeks."

The CO complimented me on the manner in which I answered this question so I am pretty confident that this will work for you.

Good luck.

Both times i went thought detroit /windsor tunnel they put my name in their computer and looked at my passport and asked me the where are you going for how long and when are you comming back. do you really want to jeopardize your k1 visa by not answering yes at this state of the process and possibly being banned from ever going to the usa?

No problem. Answer yes and explain on a separate sheet that you make frequent short trips, they understand. I am in a border area also and frequently go to Canada, I cannot even imagine trying to list the trips and when, sometimes, literally, only for a few minutes.
