uughh maybe i'm over thinking this but anyway i thought i'd ask this here since you guys know the healthcare system.

when Montreal sent my my 3rd package. on one of the info sheets it gave a huge list of vaccinations.

it says " panel physicians are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirement.....to receive each of the following vaccination."

a lot of which i don't have, some are not even listed on my yellow booklet.

like HEP A

anyway on the panel physician website http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Age6.htm

says they only check for tetanus, MMR, hep B, influenza and gardasil ( i won't need this cause of my age).

what did you guys do? did you have to make sure you got the 17 vaccinations that are listed on the info sheet from immigration or did you just make sure your basic vaccines ( listed on the physician website) were up to date?

i have no idea what i need here, i don't want to get all of these vaccines if they're not required, and if they are required are they covered by OHIP? ( not counting gardasil again because i don't need it)

The vaccines are age specific, so go by the panel physicians website. Anything that is specific to your age, you need to ensure you have updated.

What I did was take the list to my family doctor, hehelped me clarify what's needed for my age and what is not. Then he gave me the shots that I didn't have (which were 2 and they are covered by OHIP). As for HepA, he said it's not necessary, but since I have medical coverage at work, I decided to get it anyway since I will only need to pay for family doctor to administer the shots (2 shots in total, $20) and it's good for my future travels to places that will need to guard against HepA =)

Oh I hate needles too, I always turn my head away. Make sure you tell the nurse/doctor about your fear, they will tell you how to relax and makes it easier...I had a horrible nurse that didn't give me clear instruction and made me suffer when I was taking a blood test to see what immunization I have in my blood :(

I just went to my doctor too and got some shots... and she gave me the prescription for HEP A but I am not covered so it will cost 80/shot, but is it mandatory? if not, I would love to save the money???

my dr was useless! she said i had to get every shot even new mmr and tetanus but she refused to give me HPV cus of my age ( im still in the age bracket?? made no sence ) she said i even had to get the chicken pox ones Zoster and Varricella even tho i already had chicken pox and shingles.

i went to the medical at medisys in montreal, the woman said i had to get ONE shot the HPV shot b/c of my age i was still in the age range and i did not need any other shots at all, she asked my birthday and said i will need one more shot and i probably cant get the 3rd shot as it would be past my birthday and past the age range. the people at the medical know what they are doing lol Hep A is for certain countrys mostly who are more likely to contract it and its also an age specific one i believe its in the higher age bracket.

The package 3 should have a paper with your case number on it, mine was on the first page, thats the paper they requested at the medical in montreal anyways. basically it said something like " congradulations on reaching the embassy " had my case number and explained what i needed to fill out and do, i made a photo copy of this page cus they kept the original.

mine was much different than all of those that i've seen described. they sent me no forms but gave me a page with all the links to download em myself. and a bunch of pages describing everything they need, acceptable ID and what i need to bring to the interview. the checklist i think had my case number on it but i didn't make a copy dammit. i suppose i could take copies of our NOA2 and NVC letter right?

Okay, I gave up on reading half way through (to be honest)

I had to get the following shots for immigration: Gardasil, Twinrix, and Adacel.

I keep seeing this mention to Hep A...why don't you just get Twinrix its cheaper (I think) and covers both. I paid a total of like $75 maybe less for Twinrix for both shots.

I-751 file: 11/07/11

NOA1 date: 11/10/11

Biometrics: 11/30/11

Approval: 08/17/12

Hold what you got and maintain.
