How would this work?...

Say you called the USEM and set up an interview for September 1st, (even though you hadn't gotten all the packets sent from the Embassy yet), because the rep didn't ask or you lied and said that you did or whatever.

What would happen if the interview date came and for some reason you still didn't have the packets sent from USEM?

I'm asking because some people have set dates without receiving anything from USEM. What happens if the interview date rolls around but you don't have anything from the embassy?

Would they just let you fill them out there at the embassy? I guess they would just have you reschedule the interview until you had all the necessary documents.

I am just curious about it in case i somehow get to schedule an interview early like some have. I want to make enough time for my fiancee to get their packets and have it all filled out and ready.

Thanks.

As far as I know, Until Manila has your papers from NVC, you can not schedule an interview...

What other papers are you speaking of?

Once you get an interview scheduled in Manila they send an email to your SO and I requested they send one to me as well.

With this email in hand you get the medical going.

As far as other papers... yes, you do need papers to submitt at the interview.

Those you can download using the links supplied here at VJ.

Other than a snail mail letter to your SO that says the same thing as the email, I do not believe anything else is sent....

I believe he's refering the the "Packet 3" (or 4, whatever).

I called and scheduled the interview as soon as I could - Called the embassy to see when I was qualified to schedule the interview and then called the place where you need the PIN to actually schedule it. My fiancee was never sent anything from the embassy - its not needed for the actual interview. Its just the info that you can find on the embassy website about what you need at the interview.

Doesn't USEM send some stuff to the fiancee to fill out? I thought they send a packet of documents and instructions for her to fill out and bring to the interview.

The American Embassy seldom send packets anymore. I received my packet after my interview was done. Go to this site and everything needed for the interview and others are published here. This is the packet supposedly sent to applicants.

Ahhhh, ok. I see. Thanks for straightening me out on that.

Hey Matt & Bing. Did you call 2 different places for the interview set-up? 1 to see if it "qualified" and 1 to set up the PIN account and interview?

I called the 800 number to check both. This number first wants to know if you have the PIN then offers to allow you to buy one if not and then prompts you to enter it so you can complete the call to the Embassy to check if your application is entered into their computers thus allowing you to schedule an interview.... AKA: qualified
