Advice on proof of travel - Save E-ticket as PDF

SAVE YOUR E-Ticket in PDF (printable form).

When I got the e-ticket confirmation via email from Priceline.Com,

I printed the page to a PDF file - the advantage of this was not only

did it give all the details necessary to prove I booked the trip on

the dates indicated, was that it showed the full URL to the Priceline.Com

page and also displayed the date that I viewed it.

I sent this to her by email in advance of my trip. She saved it and

emailed it back to me today. I probably have it saved too, but she

was better at putting her finger on it.

This by itself is not proof of having gone to Thailand & met your fiance(e).

The other part is your visa stamps & photos together.

It's also possible to save the web page in HTML, but the PDF format gives a better rendering and it's an image file, not text-based.

A printed itinerary without boarding passes and passport stamps to support it is almost worthless.

Be sure to save boarding passes, transfer passes, hotel receipts.

I agree, it's only one part of the many elements that you listed.

However, of my 2 boarding passes from '08, the outbound one had the year

but the one from BKK-JFK only had the day and month.

It's good to have the full details of the flight number, etc.

so they can match up with the boarding pass & visa stamps.

I also save the receipt for the AIRPORT TAX on exiting Thailand,

it's about twice the size of a boarding pass and has the date of exit clearly marked.

The boarding pass is more important because it has your name.

Wow, thong (is that your name??), you have quite the love story!

I'm sending as an exhibit receipts from trips too. I kept everything thankfully! Some of my passport stamps are a little unreadable! Thanks for the tip on the pdf file.

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words. The funny thing is that our strongest shared asset is

communication but we didn't communicate well enough regarding hotel receipts.

She handled all of the checkins and I just gave her cash to cover it.

I was thinking in the back of my mind to remind her to save receipts

but neither of us had checked the details of the K-1 process at that time

because we knew the K-1 was going to be far off for most of my trips.

She was regularly checking the Thai equivalent of VJ but she didn't seem

to pick up on the importance of receipts. In all of the years we met we

spent at least a few days (Songkran) at her family's house where her

brother and sisters live. They might be able to make an affadavit saying

I was in Thailand with her in all of those years but I think we might have

enough pics, etc. to make that not necessary.

Yes, the PDF format is the best for keeping the document intact. Confirmations should always be complimented with visa\passport stamps showing the same time and dates. Remember, an e-ticket itself does not actually prove the person traveled. it just says you bought a ticket.

Went for her interview on July 16th and received her Pink Slip......Finally. Paid the AIR21 and I expect her here August 10th, 2009. Marriage will be August 21st, exactly 4 years to the day that we first met.

On my last trip something weird happened. I traveled with Thai Air but one boarding pass had the

complete date and the other (return to JFK) had only the day & month. Having the copy of the

e-ticket with the same details (flight number, name of passenger, seat number) and the dates

makes up for that. Passport stamps and anything else like the disembarkation tax receipt also help.

Paper tickets are now only issued on demand by some carriers, with a stiff value-added fee.

Soon the only ticket you will get will be an e-ticket, so it helps to keep those properly recorded.

Only the passport stamp is proof of travel; the e-ticket supports that.
