My wife is Pregnant

Hello everyone,

My poor wife is so sick from the nausea of her pregnancy. She is not sleeping well and can not eat without vomiting it back up 15 minutes after eating. :crying:

I am worried about her health and the health of the child.

Is there anything any of you ladies from the Philippines can tell me that she could take to help reduce the nausea? What do you ladies do to get through this trying time? She calls her mother everyday and that helps I am sure but as her mother has had 10 children its all old hat to her and she is not really all that sympathetic...

I plan to speak to our doctor this afternoon as well.

So sorry to hear that she's suffering from "morning" sickness. As others have suggested there is medicine available that is safe for her to take that will ease the nausea. I wish that had been available when I went through both my pregnancies. I, too, had awful nausea and vomitting during the 1st four months of each of my pregnancies. I know how bad it can be...feeling like you have the stomach flu for four entire months. I was so ill the 2nd time around I felt so sick that at one point I was wishing that I wasn't pregnant.

Congratulations!

We're in the same boat with your wife. I am on my 3rd month of pregnancy and I am still experiencing that morning sickness, though I do not vomit that much but I just suffered from dry heaves as if I throw out. That is usually normal on pregnancy as a result of hormonal change but if she vomits that much she cannot eat well anymore, it's good to see the OB.

What I am doing with these discomforts I just avoid from things (e.g., smell of spices, the sight of frozen foods) that can induce me to vomit. I eat crackers early in the morning before going out from bed. I also eat hard candies in between meals just to get rid of the bad taste. I avoid spicy foods. Sometimes, I eat fruits such as oranges and grapes and those foods I crave because somehow those would relieve me. Ask your wife if she has something to eat that she wants.

Small frequent feeding and avoid anything oily/fatty. some soda crackers may help. Morning sickness should resolve by the 12th or 14th week.

Congratulations, btw :)

Some women find eating crackers or bread slowly to get something in the stomach can help relieve nausea. Small meals throughout the day is suggested, and usually bland food is better. Hopefully she will feel MUCH better within about 6 weeks!! The first trimester is usually the worst.

How sweet of you to do some research for her :D The doctor should be able to help a lot!

She can try chewing on ginger....my friend who was pregnant with twins had bad nausea (I thankfully didn't get that sick) was told by her doctor to chew on some ginger and that should help...other than that, if it gets too bad and she starts loosing weight, like everyone else said, there is a prescription med she can take to help with that. I hope it gets better soon!
