police check, medical, and the Sydney Consulate

My fiance and I are doing a K1 petition, and I am based in Brisbane, Australia. We just filed and according to timelines, we can expect an approval sometime in November. My question is, could I go ahead and have my medical and police check done in say, September or early November to get it out of the way and save time on packets 3/4? Or, am I going to shoot myself in the foot, because according to the Australian Federal Police, Queensland residents have their police checks sent directly to the consulate upon completion. If the consulate gets my check, are they going to have a ####### moment because they haven't received our petition?

Anyone who has been through Sydney recently, can you give any pointers on what you did to expedite the process? It would be a great help in preparing myself and my fella. Thank you!

Medicals and Police checks are usually good for 1 year.

However, since your checks are sent to the embassy - I would not recommend you do that till you get the info to send with it (like a case number from the embassy).

Medical should be ok to do. (but again, some medicals need the case number to apply to the records, which you probably do not have)

Best thing to do is visit the embassy website and see if they have instructions, it should tell you what they will need to do these things...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

As soon as you have your case number you can go for the police certificate and book the medical. By the time the police certificate arrives at the consulate they will have your paperwork.

Be prepared to wait for the medical. I called and booked an appointment as soon as I received my case number but couldn't get in to see the panel physician for almost a month. My medical results weren't ready to pick up until the day before the interview!!
