General idea of how long it will take

Hi everyone. I am new here, and was wondering if anyone could give me a general idea how long it will be from the time I file I-130 until my husband can come to the states. He is in Jamaica, has no criminal record, and has never been to the US. If I'm reading the timeline right, it will take around a year? Thanks

Hi there! On average it'll take about a year, but usually less. You can venture over to the Yardie forum and check out the Yardie Interview Schedule spreadsheets, and check out the timelines for those of us who filed CR-1's...you'll probably notice that those that took a likkle longer got caught up in the huge slow down in processing last year, but things seem to be back on track for the most part. If you have any questions regarding the process don't hesitate to come on over and ask, or if you just want to jump in the Yard chat then feel free! There are some really great folks in the forum! Good luck on your journey! Let me know if I can help in any way

Thanks Mrs. Palmer. I was hoping I was reading that right (that it would 'only' be about a year.) I'm hoping to start this paperwork nightmare, er, I mean process (lol) this month.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

I browsed through that Yardie forum, but I'm not so good with the Patios yet....

You could always do like I do and just skip over the posts with patois.
