JaPrincess, last year I was all ready to go to Jamaica when Gustav arrived on the scene. Despite many calls from my family & friends telling me to CANCEL THE TRIP, I didn't. Most people did, with no penalty, but there were some of us who still went. Each person on the plane had his/her own row. Even the pilot was like, "Do y'all know that a hurricane is about to hit there?"

Him and I have talked about it. His whole family gets together durring a hurricane so they are not apart. He said the power will be out, sometimes for weeks. He said people come around with phone chargers and will let you charge your phone. Lack of communication with him is what I worry about the most really... as it is now I get antsy if it's 6pm and I haven't heard from him since morning

They are predicting it will be a typical hurricane season. With it starting so late, that could be a rough season!

I have been dreading hurricane season since I met him...

Yes. And, it's rough. Especially when the power goes out and you can't find out any information.

I've been there for a hurricane and a tropical storm. You just hope and pray they are as safe as they can be. It was a lot scarier for me hearing about it from here before I actually saw how it went for myself. Knowing the care that is taken (if they are smart), it is easier to deal with knowing everything will be okay once you weather a short period of time.

There are always going to be people that think these relationships are doomed for failure...even if it is only discussed in PM.

whew jaws.. i see ur wedding is right after he get here basically.. girl are u ready!!.. i know its a mnth away, but those days go by so quickly...

Yeah it's moving quickly, and he is procrastinating about what he wants to wear. I was going to get a linen suit but he wants something different from his first wedding...but doesn't know what. He is driving me crazy with that one. As long as he doesn't think I will let him get by in jeans and a blazer...we are cool. I don't have a problem marrying myself on that day.

Jawi this is beautiful, you are truly blessed to have A by your side he is your rock!!!! I am teary eyed over here reading this, I am convinced for you the best is yet to come!

Yeah he is my rock. He won't even tell me about his struggles because he doesn't want me to have any extra burdens on me. I told him that support goes both ways...but he said he was strong enough to handle both of our struggles...that I need to focus on healing and getting off those pills.

We had a conversation about if one of us got paralyzed from the neck down...how would we handle it. I told him that I would have to get a nurse to help me take care of him because after he rang the little bell twice...I would be ready to crush the bell and him...and changing a dirty diaper or bag...forget about it!

His response was...I'll take care of you...but I may have to step out and get a chick on the side if you can't quint it up and move your waistline. LOL I told him that he was forgetting about the increased flexibility since I wouldn't feel my legs anyway. He said man only you would make that sound fun. LMAO

Yeah we laugh a lot. As a matter of fact, as soon as I submitted that post...he called and wanted to know why I had to be in training and couldn't talk to him. LOL

I told him he would be sitting in bed like a sh*tty superhero waiting on me to change a diaper. I would get a big bucket of Febreeze and just pour on him every few days. I can't stand the thought of baby diapers less known a big person's diaper...another reason I am NOT a pet person. Of course, I'm joking (a little)...but I would have to pray for strength through changing a diaper...I can't see holding his legs in the air and using a baby wipe to clean him up. TMDI!!!!

I'm weird...I can't use a dishcloth that has been allowed to dry crumpled up on the kitchen sink. When I finish washing dishes...I put liquid soap on the cloth and lay it flat on the sink then I spray it down with all hot water from the little nozzle and let it air dry straight. Every other day, I will soak them in bleach water. If there is any kind of smudge on it from cleaning the electric grill or stove...I get grossed out. Like I told you I use the garbage disposal cleaners...and in a pinch...I will use lemon, lime or orange peels to freshen it by letting the disposer grind them up.

Ah, Jawi - sometimes we think so much alike - I had the same marry myself convo with DJ over what he would wear!

The fact that you can joke and laugh at something so serious, to me, is just more validation of the strength of your relationship -

At one point the week before last, DJ was telling me the dr (in the public hospital) was talking about doing a collostomy - of course, I freaked - Why in the hell would they do that for an ulcer? He told me Babes, relax uself, maybe somebody need a part or two. I was ready to strangle him!
