Fourth Performance: Brown Suga (lawks her speaking voice is very coarse)

Song: A song by Kurt Carr

My thoughts: Her outfit was NOT doing it for me! but her vocals were great as usual. Heartfelt.

Anthony: Didn't like it. She wasn't at her greatest tonight

Nadine: Thought she showed that she can really sing

Clyde: Thought it was inspiring

Fifth Performance: Moments (why are they still in the competition)

Song: A medley by Busy Signal

My thoughts: Their vocals suck!! but i the medley of the songs they did

Anthony: It was okay, they looked like they were having fun

Nadine: Youthful, fun

Clyde: Energetic, imaginative

Bunz, I agree with you regarding Moments. I love that medley (it's on my iPod) by Busy Signal. I thought their performance was very entertaining, but their vocals were NOT there, esp when each of them sang without the other on that one part. I thought to myself (well, not to myself since I'm sharing) that if they had auditioned separately, they wouldn't have made it.

I wish Tia had picked a song that we know. ::sigh:: (Don't tell Steven I said that.)

My thoughts: Very good, girl has strong vocals

Anthony: Easily the most inspired and fantastic performance

Nadine: yadda yadda yadda...In awe...yadda yadda yadda

Clyde: Blah blah blah....thought she was solid....blah blah blah

lol, its a fairly popular song, at least among christians

i'm always hearing it as their ring tone

but i think reggae songs suit her more, she's really in her element when she does reggae

Bunz, on the rising stars message board at Digicel's website, someone mentioned that Adena and Sandy have family connections. Who is Sandy related to?

Hi all, been trying to catch up - DJ is feeling better, but as usual, he's having cell issues - it keeps freezing when he answers - so he can text, but we can't talk - the man is a curse on a phone! Digicel is STILL not working for me - so frustrating!

Hope everyone had a good weekend - yesterday was a glorious day spent by the pool - saw lots of old friends this weekend that I haven't seen in a while. Just waiting for my friends to get home so I can go home - I will be home till Friday, then on to the next dog sitting job, lol!

Your in my thoughts and prayers sus

The sermon was actually very moving and quite the contrary to the earlier praise service. It moved me very much. When it came time to give our offerings...Jonesie and I both pulled out $1000 JA...folded discreetly in our hand and waiting for the plate. Jonesies' niece looked in my hand and said "Ah whaa yuh a look change? Nutten no go so...de plate nuh have so much change man." I responded that I didn't want change, it was my offering. She kissed teet and said "Yuh cyaan buy yuh salvation...why yuh give so much Auntie...wan $50 or $100 dolla good." Then she looked at Jonesie and said "Ehhnnn...ah ow oonu stay inna farrin?" "Too much money yuh throw away." We were sitting there feeling bad that all we were giving was $1000 because we didn't bring a lot of money with us....and we got chastised for "showing off". We still laugh about it because she was so cute in her indignation.

After this long drawn out story...is it really bad to give "too much money" in Jamaican churches if the rest of the congregation can't give as much? I don't want to come off like I am better off or making others feel bad about what they can give. I plan to attend more services in Jamaica on my next reach...and I want to know what is acceptable.

tithing and offerings are always a touchy topic.

I look at it like this, God is an honest God. If He feels you have given too much, He will give it back

and i think there is somewhere in the bible, don't remember the scripture, where it says He will return to you exactly as how u have given to Him, so if you give alot you will get back alot, if you give little, you will get back little

there is no "appropriate" amount, maybe you went to a church in a less rich neighbourhood where ppl look on a thousand dollars as nuff money. but if you have it to give and if the spirit leads you to give that amount, who is another person to talk you down about it (in this case its a child so i understand)

I agree Bunz...I thought she was a little too outspoken...but it was cute too. She seemed so appalled in all her worldly years (under 10 years old)....that I had to laugh. The person passing the plate seem quite pleased.

Morning, all.

Mstee, hope your daughter feels better with whatever the docs give her.

Definitely, mint in mojitos. Mmmm.

Thank you we are back, as I suspected, they had to give her a breathing treatment. She is starting to feel some relief, so thank you!

glad to hear she is feeling better.

Has anyone had to get the non-impediment for the interview?

I didn't get it...but we both had pretty recent divorce decrees and decided to chance it. I would not give that type of advice because I don't want to be responsible for another person getting a blue slip.

Just wanted to know neither of us have been married

Has anyone had to get the non-impediment for the interview?

It's in packet 3 as a requirement, but I haven't heard of anyone getting an RFE for not having it. Are you thinking about not getting it? I considered that, too, since it's WAAAAAY too expensive for something that seems optional.

Yes, I was thinking of it but just wanted to know.

Question:

Today I had dinner with my aunt & her friends. Apparently my aunt told them I was engaged to a Jamaican before I arrived. One of the ladies told me that she's heard that a lot of guys who work at resorts in Jamaica pursue American women to get a green card. I responded, "I've heard that before."

What do you all say when people tell you that?

My response: "yes, some are but I met someone who is just right for me and if you know me, you know Im a good judge

well i've never heard that (since i'm the jamaican) but he has heard similar stuff a couple times

he usually responds in a similar manner as you did and keeps it moving

i've been told he probably has bad credit or has a police record or has hidden children who he owes child support for ... blah blah blah

i usually respond with ok i hear you, and keep it moving as well

mstee you're good to even go that far

i've become so weary of the tales of doom and gloom that i just can't bother to justify anything anymore

i think i saw some statistic on this very site that said international relationships end in divorce less than other marriages so ppl can say w/e they want

doesn't bother me much anymore
