Appointment scheduled for August 26!!!!

Hi VJ's, SO EXCITING!!! I'm preparing everything for the big day, and I would like to make sure which of the documents should I have my husband bring to the interview. All my civil documents were already sent to NVC, Birth, marriage and police certificates, photographs...Below there is part of the appointment letter they sent me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The applicant must bring the following to the visa interview:

* Any original documents that were requested by the NVC but were not submitted to the NVC

* The medical examination results if not submitted to the Embassy/Consulate by the physician

* The correct size and number of photographs

* Valid passport for all traveling applicants

The following table lists the documents requested by the NVC and whether or not the NVC received them. Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the original document to the visa interview.

Also, I'm working on the extra "hush-hush" requirement, the timeline, right now. What else? What else? If you're in the SAME BOAT as I am, or have BEEN IN THE BOAT BEFORE AND HAVE SAILED ON, please reply to this post. I've read countless and countless posts regarding the interview process and most of them a super awesome and the other most are so repetitive that it caused even more confusion. My hope is that this post will be the most useful of useful. Please give your two-bits about information that you are 100% certain about. That way, everyone is better off! If you have a good hunch but not so sure on the 100%, please send me a message and we can figure from there before posting for confusion.

Also, I'm offering cupcakes. If you are truly helpful and is my saint sent from above (and you live near me) My husband and I will be more than happy to hand deliver fresh batches of cupcakes. No lies, and no bribes. Just a grateful heart!

A MILLION THANKS IN ADVANCE.

cupcakes! i tend to stress more importance on the interview. don't panic, smile, be polite, dress nicely. practice questions as if they were a job interview, short, clear answers. know what each document is. this is a w-2, that is a 1040. be able to name everyone in the pics you submit. they are not going to ask you everything about everything, but the fact that you know everything will show itself when you answer the questions. don't look down to the left. don't be intimidated. don't be afaid to defend yourself. so when do get cupcakes?

Make sure that you have a notorized timeline from the petitioner in the US. This is a must. I know that they do not tell you this, but trust me I am here now and i saw many many blue slips because of this. Also make sure like they said to have all proof of any relatives pof your fiancee's relatives living in the us. not just a letter with here they are, but contact them and have them send por scan a gas bill or drivers liscense. Also if you were married before I would reccomend getting a letter from your ex wife along with a gas bill to prove that she does not live with you. I know this might sound strange, but trust me. I am in Vietnam now delivering the evidence my fiancee needed and nothing that I delivered was required in ANY of the paperwork they sent. You can use DHL to get the papers here in time, but do not do like I did and think that when people said this is what we needed I thought if I needed it that they would tell. My fiancee went through hell when she got the blue, dont be stubborn like me. Get the evidence that I am telling you about. It might cost you $40 to DHL it but it will be well worth it.

  • Notarized Time Line with LOTS of detail beginning from when you first met...the longer the better, but make sure it's organized and concise.
  • List of Beneficiary's Relatives in the US - copy of Driver's License and Birth Certificate to prove relationship (have each one notarized to be on the safe side - my husband had his sister's DL but they didn't accept)
  • I would also recommend bringing copies of additional correspondence (mail/email/phone bill/etc) as well as more pictures organized and labeled!

I used FedEx and they were VERY reliable...probably 40 bucks for 3 day delivery!!

  • OPTIONAL Affidavits from people who witnessed your relationship as it progressed (I submitted 4 after my husband got the blue slip)
  • OPTIONAL Have ready tax return from IRS, tax transcript from IRS, and your copy of your 1040s w/W-2s (I didn't know which one they would ask for so I just sent him all of them just in case)
  • OPTIONAL Personal Letter/Affidavit from you to the Consulate Officer - personalize it as much as possible and don't spare any details.

They're all really optional since it's not items that they actually ask for before you go in to interview, but most of the people that come out with blue slips ask for one of the first three items. The optional items are just what I sent back with my husband after he got the blue slip (just ideas).

I used FedEx and they were VERY reliable...probably 40 bucks for 3 day delivery!
