Ok, so I worked so diligently (so I thought) on preparing all of my paperwork checking all signatures, emailing additional documents to my fiance, prepared for the interview questions, etc. Today was my fiance's interview - everything was perfect except I left out the 2008 return - I included the tax statement even provided last 6 months of check stubs, 2006 returns, 2007 returns, bank statements, 401k statements, etc. I could have just kicked myself in the .... especially considering how busy the Ghana embassy is and how far out they give you a second interview - looks like most have had to wait another 4 months if they needed to come back.

Good news is that Ibrahim's interview went well. all other paperwork was fine, and they told him to just bring the tax return on October 5th - they said that was all he needed.

So, the news is kind of mixed, but, mostly great. We are looking forward to his "coming to America" in October! We both agreed that it was a bizarre oversight but, we don't always know what God's plan is and who else is involved in a plan that we think is just about us. We are feeling good and beyond confident that we are coming to the end of this leg of the journey. For those curious about the intervew - here are the questions that he was asked:

How did you and your fiance meet?

Why did she come to Ghana?

Was the person who recommended she come to Ghana a Ghanaian?

Why do you address each other as husband and wife in some of your documents? (He told them that we consider ourselves as a couple and our families recognize us as such - no problem with the answer)

How children does she have and what are their ages?

What arrangements have been made for the wedding?

How many brothers does your fiance have?

At the end of the interview they told him that all he needed to provide is the 2008 return (dagnabit  ) gave him a form indicating what he needed to bring back. The form included the date and time of his return visit. We are happy!

Congratulations! This looks like very good news to me. You should be happy :) They may not even ask him any questions when he returns with the missing tax returns.

Thank you for posting the interview questions. It always helps to know what types of questions to expect

We really are feeling optimistic considering the fact that others who have had to come back for a second appt in Ghana were given dates 4 months out. 2 months out, under the circumstances sounds like a good deal.

how do i add only to the GHana forum..its been awhile. i just tried to do thath and its postedon the whole site-- i was simply trying to post on the Ghana page?

It appears that posts are listed under particular areas based on the details in your profile. I didn't direct my original topic to be posted in the Ghana forum. However, since I have Ghana as the country of my fiance the topic was directed to that forum as well as any other relevant forum identified by the administrator. You need to complete your profile.

Carefully read the slip they provided her as she may be able to provide the tax info at a far earlier date as they likely dont need a second interview, just the tax info... if this is the case she may be able to drop off the tax info at any date prior to Oct ... check the slip they gave her as well as call or email them... why wait the extra 2 months if not required..

You are in great shape now!

Thank you for the feedback. I was actually planning on emailing them (best way to reach the Ghana embassy) to see if he could come in earlier to drop off the form. Before he left the interview my fiance' told them that he could get the document shortly after leaving the embassy and could come back immediately or the next day - he asked why he had to wait until October. They told him that they did not take unscheduled appointments and they were currently booked with lottery visa appointments over the next two months so it was the best date they could give him. Sounds amazing to us - but, I keep hearing that Ghana is a bit overwhelmed with appointments lately. Just the same, as you suggested, I am going to try and connect with them via email - you never know. Either way as you say - we are truly in great shape now! Praises to God! Moving on to the wedding planning!

There is no God's plan....all there is reviewing your papers before the interview and innocently overlooking something.....we are just humans.......
