I know, right? Plus the expense of my husband getting down here and the stuff like that. I figure if we pay a couple hundred more for the stress we'll save, it'll be well worth it in the end. Plus, when I'm ready? I can get them to pick up all the stuff, make the move and I can spend my time here with my friends and stuff.

Good plan, Danu... you're so smart!

:)

Thats what we have decided too lgg, the uhaul rental is more then ABF is charging us, plus we would have to pay for gas and pick up a tow to be able to get my car there too. So much less hassle this way

as are you! I figure if I'm going to be driving all the way across country I will only take what I need and be comfortable in my car instead of uncomfortable in a uhaul.

For a move from Ontario to California

The quotes I've found (incase they help anyone)

Uhaul - the truck alone is $1,677 and the smallest they have is a 10ft, I think with my stuff I only need about 6-7, plus $40 for a tow dolly. Can use up to 10 days and 5079 kilometers. Gas extra. Bonus - there to check my own stuff through customs

ABF - 6ft of trailer space, terminal to terminal is $1,776 or $2076 for door to door, plus $13 for customs check. Gas and taxes are included in this price. If I need more space its $158/ft which isnt too bad. Estimated transit - 5 Days. Bonus - they check your stuff through customs for you.

Broadway Express - I dont know why but they quoted me a 10ft trailer. $2, 953 for the truck alone. They also charge $595 for an origin/toll fee, and $430 for fuel charges. Total quote $3978. This is another pack it yourself company so the charges to me are outrageous. They also expect you to be at the border with them to help with customs on your goods. Rediculous.

Yepper... I agree with the ease and comfort of it all. Your move is a lot more intense than mine is going to be. Good to get this stuff on the go, huh?

BTW, that Broadway Express looks insane to me.

Well, I'm off to downsize some more.

:D

Good luck...

I used AMJ Campbell Van Lines/Atlas Van Lines... they are about $1/lb. I had an entire condo, two bedrooms, livingroom and about 45 boxes....cost me $2400...but I had 3000lbs...the more you have the cheaper it gets...
