Ok. My packet was returned to me today. Unfortunately, I put the wrong amount for the I-751. Insetad of $545.00, the the money order was only for $ 540.00.

Question: There is a notice attached to the package that says

"Since the reorganization of the INS into three new agencies under the Department of Homeland Security, there has been confusion regarding who remittances should be made payable to. Unless specified above, your application is not being rejected for incorrect payee information, however to ensure proper processing of future applications, please make checks and/otr money orders payable to "Department of Homeland Security or U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services".

So I can either wright the check for "Department of Homeland Security"or "U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services".

Is that correct? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

P.S I hope someone can reply to my inquiry ASAP. So i can mail it today. This problem doesnt help my pregnancy...lol :crying:

That'd be my understanding - either Homeland Security or USCIS. Personally I'd do Homeland Security, as the forms themselves still say that. I assume USCIS would be ok or they wouldn't have said so, but I'm one of those 'error on the side of caution' people. :)

Wow, only just got time after getting back from vacation to get all my documents together and will be sending it off tomorrow! That leaves 73 days in my window...

We found this pretty hard this time around as we feel our evidence is a little weak. This is due to us living with my wife's parents who own the house that we all live in together as we are currently looking for our own place...

Our evidence is as follows:

• Copies of My Passport and Permanent Resident Card

• Marriage certificate

• Three sworn affidavits and one letter by US citizen friends/family attesting to our relationship and marriage (one from my in-laws whose house we live in stating that fact)

• Copies of our Federal Tax Returns from 2007 and 2008

• Copies of our State Tax Returns from 2007 and 2008

• Copies of W2’s and 1099’s from 2007 and 2008 showing our shared address

• Three Copies of Bank statements for our joint checking and savings accounts, from 2007, 2008 and 2009

• Copies of various notices from our shared car insurance policy throughout our marriage

• Copies of our individual health insurance plans addressed to the same address

• Copies of car titles showing our shared address at home

• A copy of airline reservations for multiple vacations including the United Kingdom and San Francsico, CA

• Copies of Bording passes from a trip to the UK in December 2008 and San Francisco in May 2008

• Copies of various holiday cards we have received since being married

• Copies of various tickets from events we have gone to together

• 20 photographs taken of us from 2007 to 2009 during our marriage

I hope that will be good enough!

FYI I don't think you need your marriage certificate or passport copies. Don't suppose they can hurt, though.

Other than that, it's pretty similar to what we sent! :)

Sorry to hear about that...

Just to be clear;

It would be "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" (Exactly as you see it, no abbreviations) - am sure you/everyone already knows that, but just bing #######.. :innocent:

P.S.

(Am not too keen on the USCIS thing - the instructions are pretty clear who to make the check payable to.)

I didn't think they were THAT ####### about it! I know they will not accept 'DHS' - or 'USDHS' - but I thought Dept. (or Department) of Homeland Security would be fine. I couldn't fit 'Department' on mine - I guess I write too big! - so I put Dept.

Guess we'll find out in the event that mine gets sent back.

Agree with you, makes no sense, more ####### silly paperwork pushing chase stuff. Like everyone filing has so much knowledge or expertise on what they want us all to do each and every year or month when they constantly change their own policies internally without notice or not even matching their form instructions at times. Crazy is it not to return a check to someone just because it is not written just so for the payable name, like their bank is going to refuse it for deposit or like the person who wrote it bank is going to refuse it. It is more bureaucratic federal worker government nonsense. And all they do is stress out people even more, sad, I mean you would think they would be worried about the application being completed correctly and supporting documents backing it up than whether someone abbreviated a name on a check or slightly misspelled it or whatever ####### minor thing.

It would be "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" (Exactly as you see it, no abbreviations) - am sure you/everyone already knows that, but just bing #######.. :innocent:

Yeah - I dunno what others have used, but to reject Dept. of Homeland Security would seem to be the epitome of asinine to me! As if the bank couldn't figure that one out!! LOL But it is USCIS after all....
