Moving from VA to KS in middle of I129f process

Hello

I filed the I129f application for my Russian fiancee (they received it) on May 1, 2009. Since then I have moved from Virginia to Kansas. The application is with the Vermont Service Center, but Kansas falls under the Califronia SC jurisdiction.

My question is: should I do the change of address and have everything transferred to California? Or is this going to mess things up and make more delay? The waiting time for Vermont is about 6 months, California 5 months, but I am worried if I tell them my new address I will go to the back of the line. My mail is being forwarded, for the next year, and I can check the visa status on-line, either way, but I am worried about them losing the application or a lot of time if I notify them of my new address.

Anyone have any experience with moving in the middle of the application?

Thanks

Fairbro

Moving will have no effect on the application and yes you should change your address so USCIS sends all relevant documents to your current address.

YOU do not change the location of your petition, USCIS does and won't likely do it simply because you moved.

Good luck.

Hmm, never thought of that. They will just keep it there, even though I'm not in their jurisdiction any more. That's good idea. Thanks. I should actually call them, make sure that's what they do. Always better to call, (yesterday I called the IRS, thought I had big problem, turned out to be nothing).
