Actually, to be honest, I'm having a hard time believing I get to be done with USCIS for awhile.

I guess it'll feel more real when I have it in my hands.

Well, don't let your guard down for too long, ROC is right around the corner

Congrats Everyone!

I still didn`t get my SSN due to my I-94 screwed up by the CPB Officer at POE...I should try to get my driver`s license next week...Hope it will work we just buy a used car for me...

I just checked my status online and it says:

"Initial Review

On April 29, 2010, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

I'm so glad...just hope that it won`t slow my AP process...???

I just talk on the phone with my dad and he has heart's pain and his has very low blood pressure...he uses to do high blood pressure. He doesn`t want to go to see a doctor because he can't leave my mom alone (she is paralyzed due to a stroke and she can't be alone)...So I will need to go there asap...I am so worried now...My sister is leaving for Cuba tomorrow!

He is really stubborn...so even I told him what to do he won`t listen!

It's hard to be far from family in those conditions!

Even I'm very happy to be here with my husband but I will need to be home to help them!

Have a good week end!

Congrats on the CSC transfer Jo, hopefully you get your AP soon so you can go be with your family.

I went today and got both my state id and drivers licence. They didn't even look at my passport, although the first gal was confused as to my new name...she seemed to not know what a maiden name / married name is LOL. WE got there around 10:45 and were out by 12:30, for my dl, all i had to do was take the written, paper test and only 20 questions, with 12 signs i had to match up to the correct name. Sooo bloody easy, lol and i was worried as i did the studying in the waiting line LOL!. Total cost was 50$. 30 for the d/l 20 for the state id and both are good for 5 years..NEAT! Also got our health insurance cards today too with our names on em.

Oh and What the heck? a cheasy cheap piece of paper for an SSN?? wow. heh, now i finally feel like a us resident smile.gif i'm not even worried in the slightest about working on my credit rating or anything. I think i hit the calm before the storm tongue.gif

oh edit here, they let me keep my Ontario drivers licence. they did not take it or cut it up or anything. And they were confused as to why i can't be put on the voters list lol, i had to tell them i can't cuz i'm only a PR, us citizen only can vote :P

Wow Kimbear! Are those people a little slow or what?

I'm surprised they let you have a DL and a State ID at the same time. Here you can't have both! If you have a DL you can't have a State ID and vice versa. I guess it's because they are essentially the same thing- one just lets you drive and the other doesn't.

The SSN card is pretty cheesy. It would be way to easy to completely destroy it...

Thanks Kimbear!

I hope to be able to go to see my family at least at the end of May...My dad really needs me...

I'm going to DMV this week to get my Texas driver`s licence. We called and they said that I need my Birth Certificate, my Canadian passport, I-94, Mariage Certificate, my husband`s birth certificate and my Canadian driver`s license. Of course, I should give up on my Canadian driver`s license...

So we will see how it will go...Hope everything will be fine...after if I can get them ...I'm going to go to SS Office again and try to get my SSN...I can`t be put on any insurance...I bought a used car and I will get it next week but I could not even drive it if I have no insurance!

Have a good week end all!

Rhian I sympathize ... I'm not photogenic at all ... I always look awful on my identity card, driving license, passport,...

So I do not expect better on my AP, EAD and GC

But my husband is better not laughing... :bonk: lol

Got my physical green card a couple of days ago. I have to say, I've never seen the metallic printing effect they use on the back anywhere else. It also somehow got a scratch within an hour of me getting it. I guess they really do mean you should use that little envelope they send with it!

We overnight mailed his AOS and EAD on Saturday, so it should be to Chicago today by 3 pm. Here's hoping that we end up with a timeline like Spoom's - two months from filing, we could handle that. Fingers crossed.

We applied for his SSN on April 21, and got it on April 28. They said two weeks, but we got it in a week. We had only a little trouble, but we had the regulations that the VJ guide suggests taking. As soon as we showed the regulations to them, it went very quickly. Driver's license is the next hurdle. Hopefully we can get that taken care of this week.

May 7, 2009 - 129F submitted

April 6, 2010 - Visa Delivered/POE (Peace Bridge)

April 23, 2010 - Civil Ceremony

May 1, 2010 - AOS/EAD Application submitted

July 12, 2010 - EAD Approved (Card Production Email #1 at 4:02 pm)

July 26, 2010 - EAD RECEIVED

August 5, 2010 - GREEN CARD APPROVED!!

August 21, 2010 - Green card arrives

November 13, 2010 - Catholic ceremony

July 2, 2012 - ROC submitted to VSC

August 21, 2012 - Biometrics

February 27, 2013 - ROC Approved

Only one more step to go!
