Personally, and especially with a destination wedding, I wouldn't plan anything until I had documents in hand, but that's just me. I'm also one of those people actually waiting for EAD or GC before job-hunting though, and apparently not everyone does that either.

If you can handle the added stress and uncertainty of waiting and basing all your plans on USCIS, go for it.

Unless your passport surname does not match your Green Card surname. In that case, I would suggest taking your marriage certificate to bridge that gap.

Ah, yes you're absolutely right. I always forget about mentioning that, for someone else who might read the posts. But I have a certified copy slipped into the front page so I've always got a copy on me.

Wow Sam really? That's AWESOME! Congrats :D

I brought a copy of my marriage certificate too but they didn't even ask about the name discrepancy.

Kizza- I think that's a pretty solid plan. Of course there is always a remote possibility that something crazy could happen and delay you, but 90% of I-485's seem to be approved within 6 months.

I officially mailed off my aos package today via fedex. took a bit longer i expected but at least it's done now. OY, now i gotta figure out how to prove we live together :( no lease no utilities in laws are being..fussy. :(

Will you be getting a joint bank account? You can use things like that to show the same address. Keep every bit of mail you receive addressed to you or both of you too. Do you have Netflix? You could sign up under both your names for that as well.

I managed to pass with no joint bills and just a wedding album.

I have NO clue how I did. I wouldn't suggest doing it though.
