For the "How We Met" statement, do I need to put mine/fiance's address on it? Also, I realize it must be dated and signed, but do I need to type our names in full under the signatures?

Thanks.

There is an example of the letter on this website.

Your address should be listed at the top and type your name only as you are the one who is writing the letter and sign.

I found an example of the Letter Of Intent, but not one for How We Met.

Your 'how we met statement' will very likely be a continuation of question 18 on the I-129f petition. Most folks label this supplemental sheet something like "Continuation of question 18" then write the answer - it's is not really a 'statement' by itself but rather just a continuation/supplement of the petition. (So no, you don't need the names/address and/or signatures.)

The "how you met letter" is exactly what it says. You just need to state how you met. Every other piece of information, including both of your addresses, are included in the G-325A. Just include the circumstances of how you met, and the dates.

Don't sweat details like this too much. You're not going to be denied or RFE'd because you forgot some little detail that somebody else might have put on their form. Just provide what's asked for, no more, no less, and you'll be fine. Good luck! :)

They just want an answer to the question. You can just write a brief description of how you met. It does not need to be notarized, you don't need an address on it, both of you do not need to sign it. You can title it something like "How we met". Ours was about 4 sentences. They accepted it.

If you'll be dealing with the consulate in Ecuador, you'd better write an exhaustively detailed statement, and include it in the I-129F filing.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This is a continuation for the answer to question 18 on the form. If you can fit your answer in the space provided there is no need for any "statement". It does not have to be dated or signed by either party. It should be clearly identified as belonging to your petition (names of petitioner and beneficiary) and whcih question it is an answer to. You should be able to write your answer in the space provided.

"We met online and correspnded for some months. I traveled to Ottowa (or wherever) and met my fiancee on January 10, 2009."

Attach some photos a travel documents. That is all for the petition

Tbone, I deferred to you in another thread on this same matter because it involved Ecuador. A fiancee from Canada is not likely to deal with Ecuador, but if I am wrong about this I will admit it. It simply is not necessary for the vast majority of people to do anything more than answer the questions asked in the space provided.

Then you are surely obligated to report my post to the Moderators. At the same time, report the others in this thread who didn't exactly restrict their answers narrowly to the OP's question. Let us all know the reply.
