I heard on AVR that info was missing according to NVC, checklist sent on July 13

called

lady said I will receive mail (email?)

said wedding was not original or certified copy

...

while it is

lady on the phone said she could just escalate to supervisor

and she hung up , not sure what she did

wedding certificate is a certified copy

from a little French city hall

it does not look very nice but is certified

is a photocopy by the city hall certified by the city hall

any recommendation?

other people it did happen to?

Did you have it translated?

Call again and speak to a supervisor who can actually look at the case.

If that fails unfortunately it would probably be faster to just send them a new copy than to fight them over it.

You might try asking if they would accept an emailed or faxed copy of it and bring the new original to the interview, not sure if they'd let that fly but I think others have faxed RFE responses.

Oh also, was the "certification" by the city hall an apostille? I think for things like photocopies of international documents the apostille is the only universally recognized proof of certification. That might have been the problem.

Just some ideas of what the problem could be, not positive about any of them really.

Thank you

No it was not translated

because documentation did not ask for translation for french documentation

as it is to present to the French embassy.

certification is not apostille. this is not something common in France.

can I really talk to a supervisor? the lady hung up on me without warning.

tomorrow I call again and will try in the order

0- see if email with more explanation

1- supervision on the phone

2- email with pdf

3- mail with another set

other ideas coming to me

ask US embassy in Paris about apostille requirements?

ask French folks about need for apostille requirements

I have a feeling the problem is not about needing an apostille- that seems like a lot to ask and in general NVC will accept a document with any sort of stamp or seal from the issuing agency. It was just a guess so you shouldn't worry too much about trying to get that. Definitely try again to speak to a supervisor- for an issue like that the operator will almost definitely transfer you. If not, hang up and try again. That will most likely clear everything up. Hope it doesn't set you back for too long. Good luck!

Same thing with me and the "Police Certificates". NVC said they didn't receive them. {Although they did receive the Birth Certificates that were in the same envelope}

A lot of good it did talking or e-mailing anyone. I even sent an email showing the scans of the certificates that were mailed. Reply said they were never received. HOW NICE!... I double and triple checked everything before mailing. If this service were free, I would expect as such but since I like many others are paying big bucks I expect decent service.

Who have you been calling? the american embassy in paris? If it is, I hope you are not calling the 15 euros call center because they are not qualified to answer anything about immigrant visa (I got a whole lot of problem with that)

called the nvc center

+1-6033340700

would not call the 15 euro one unless I don't know

thank you.

would rather try email or fax with embassy in Paris if I had to contact them.

We have not received email

but apparently all was sent by letter

we are on holidays and will get the letter only on the 26th

Called again today

Case was escalated to supervisor

was told on phone supervisor looks within 10-15 days

email would not harm.

Sent an email as a follow up.

In my email I point at evidence already provided (seal and signature are at the back of the document)

at the end of my conversation with operator

I asked about the Affidavit of Support and gosh , RFE (I called back to ask and was told yes)

starting another thread for it

Well here's one for you.

I received an RFE for the Birth Certificate and the Police Report/Certificate.

They required the LONG FORM birth certificate and another Police Report/Certificate for the one they said they didn't receive.

So I go through the trouble of getting the LONG FORM Birth Certificate and an extra Police Certificate. 6 weeks of expense and hell to get them.

I mailed them Friday.

I get notice ON TUESDAY that the application was approved and sent to the foreign consulate. BUT Bring and original/certified copy of the Birth Certificate to the interview. Police Certificate was said to be ok..

What happened? Approved in 2 days? I don't think so.

Evidently they found the police certificate and sent the case to the embassy without the Long Form Birth Certificate but specifying to present it at interview.

Today, the NVC signed for the RFE requesting Long Form and extra copy of Police Certificate. Jeez

At least the case was completed and moved to the interview stage. Now I have to come up with another LONG FORM BIRTH Certificate to supply at the interview {while NVC just signed for the envelope that has it today.} uff

Just FYI
