I will be eligible to apply for citizenship in October (I'm still married and live with my husband who is USC) but I was wondering if i choose not to do it in October, do I need to wait 2 more years to apply for citizenship? or can I do it anytime (when I have the money lol)?

Anytime, as long as you still meet the requirements.

You don't have to wait another 2 years to file if you don't do it now. :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

You can do it anytime (provided you remain eligible). If you choose to do it within the next two years (from October) you will file under the "three-year" option. if you wait to file until after October, 2011 - you will be eligible to file under the "five-year" option, which means you will not be required to provide all the additional proof of legitimate marriage, tax transcripts etc. If you are masocistic, you are technically still eligibile to file under the three year rule at that point, but, why you would choose to do that is beyond me :-). Of course, you even can choose not to apply at all.

BTW There was a substantial fee increase in July, 2007 - so, hopefully the fee should remain at the current rate, at least for another couple of years.
