So I watch TVJ online and record the video playing on my screen when Tia performs. WHY tonight, the entire show is coming through clearly... But as soon as Tia started performing, my internet connection lagged. You'll see when i post the video on YouTube that it's choppy.

Right after Tia finished, the connection smoothed itself out.

Seventh Performer: Brown Suga

Song: A song by tanya stephens

My opinion: looks edgy as usual, vocals very good as usual

Anthony: loved the outfit, thought she was authentic

Clyde: loved it

Cindy: loved it, thought the lyrical content suited her, gave her goose bumps

on a side note, why would yendi tell her she hopes she drops. she did it in jest but that's so inappropriate to tell someone before they perform

Other question for Bunz: When 9:00 hits, Rising Stars cuts off no matter where in the program they are. Fortunately today, all the contestants had already performed. But I've seen one or two contestants get cut off before.

Does the program cut off in Jamaica, too, or is that just the online viewers of TVJ?

Ells...I thought I would never see you type those words. They just PISS me off whenever I see them. Did you agree to marry a boy...a dog...or a man? I know you have a right to type whatever you want to...but that is a pet peeve for me. I just don't agree with calling a grown man a boy. I see a lot of you do this...and I just don't get it. Why can't it be that he is a good guy? I'm not trying to start anything...just couldn't hold it in today. I wonder if some of you decide to use boy because he is younger than you...or less educated...or you really don't understand the negative history of that word with Black men. Still love you like cook food Ells...but it grated on me today.

Jawi, sorry to hear about your driving troubles. Hopefully between the doctor & your HR staff, the situation will turn around for the better.

As far as calling men "boy," I don't really do it, but I do understand why it bothers you. I remember in high school a white girl called a black guy "boy" and the whole class was in an uproar. But she intentionally did it to be demeaning. I didn't get that Ells meant it in any sort of derogatory way. Consequently my mind didn't even go to a negative place about it.

Bunz, I got back just in time.

It's not about Ells being White...or this being a racist thing. I just think it doesn't reflect respect to call your man a boy. I mean you decided to marry him...so he has to be a man. I think this word is easy to use when the man is younger...but I know that A gets highly offended when someone calls him a boy. He will quickly correct them and say that he doesn't see a boy standing there. Like I said this is not about Ells...I just want to understand why it is so easy to call a man a boy Black...White...Jamaican or Chinese. This is the reason I have never called A my boyfriend...he has always been my man.

I understand how the term 'boy' can be misconstrued, but I really can't see Ellseven being conscious of the way she used it as having negative connotations.....to me she used it in a playful joking manner. I think sometimes we have to be careful about being over sensitive. By all means, point it out, just in case she used it thst way in conversation and someone became offended. I think to be honest, it is a thing with black Americans more than Jamaicans. "Boy' can be used as a diss, but more in terms of referring to age or respect than in a racial context which Jamaicans don't associate with the word.

I am sensitive to how the word is used. The sentence "he is a good boy" made me think she was patting him on the head for finally doing something right that she approved of. I really thought more of her praising a puppy with this statement.

Jawi- That's awful and so scary! I think they sent you back to work too soon. If you explain what happened to your doctor is there any chance he will agree that it's too soon and allow you more time off? Or will that just cause more trouble with work? I'm sorry you have to go through all of this.

Nat and Bunz - So how did Princess Tia do tonight??

T2B...my doctor wrote me out for 6 weeks...I would get approved for Long Term Disability but I would no longer have a job or medical/dental benefits and bonuses that I have rightfully earned and that will be vesting shortly. I hadn't taken any medication and that is what was so scary...that I just fell asleep like that.

Jawi (F) (F) (F) Sorry to hear about the demotion, I am just worried about your health. How are you feeling throughout the day, that is a long work day for someone who is not fully recovered. How is the commute? Sigh.........

Hey Philly it wasn't really a demotion...although I'm calling it that. I worked with a more specialized group of employees that had a higher job title/description and salary band. But, I'm still a supervisor...just with more needy employees now.

I have to have the doctor fill out a workplace accommodation for Human Resources...so I'm going to ask him to state that I need daytime hours because of my medications...I don't mind the off days. The HR manager told me that they have to honor whatever accommodations the doctor recommends. I fell asleep on the highway Friday because I was stuck in traffic for 2 hours (even leaving at 3 PM) ...I almost caused a huge accident. Then, I drove off the road near my home because I couldn't stay awake. I woke up when I heard the car rolling over tree branches and rocks. I cried because it was so scary and I feel so helpless. Actually, I have been crying all weekend.

I have to go back and keep catching up.

jawi i am so sorry you are going through this your in my prayers always
