Hi everyone! I just received my entire K-1 packet back in the mail from the Vermont Service Center with a letter stating that they would not process the packet because the fee is $535.00 instead of the $445.00 stated on www.travel.state.gov. Has anyone else received a letter like this? I'm not complaining because now I can check over the entire packet again to make sure all my i's are dotted and t's crossed but I would think that they of all people would have an updated website.

Thanks,

Johnny and Bethel

hi there...its quite surprising because my fiance submitted the packet a day before u did which is June 17, 2009 amounting to $445 via California Service Center and thank God, it was not returned to him. He instead received a letter from USCIS to confirm they had the packet.. It was just a day difference to think. We dont know why they increased the K-1 fee...try to call their number or register in their site so u can keep track.

Goodluck..

I didn't see any increase or changes in the filing fee for I-129F, it still $445.00 in USCIS website. Are you sure you filled out the right form?

check www.uscis.gov and click immigration forms.

USCIS fees cannot be increased without prior approval and a notice before the increase. The last fee increase was in 2007.

Did you use the I-129f form?

It is best to download the form and use the form directions from the USCIS: click here

There has been no fee increase - when you say K-1 Packet - what exactly did you send? And - What exactly does the letter say?

Yes I used the right form. It says I-129F on top and it is dated to expire on 1/31/2010. The letter says "The above application or petition, along with any check or other for of fee payment, is attached. The application or petition cannot be accepted because the proper fee of $535.00 U.S. is not attached. Since the case is not properly filed, a priority or processing date cannot be assigned. Please attach a check or money order for this amount and resubit this entire package to the address listed below. To speed processing, please leave this notice on top.

Immigration & Naturalization Service

Vermont Service Center

At the top of the notice it says case type: I129F Petition for Fiance (e)

I would send the packet back as is and explain that the fee is $455 NOT $535 and include a copy of the USCIS fee schedule

Something is wrong then.

Yeah, I agree. Something isn't right. I'd call them before resubmitting anything.

Wow! How did I miss that($455)?!? :bonk: but that still doesn't explain $535 that they are asking for. I tried to call the 1-800 number but only got a computer in my ear. How do I speak with a real person?

does not matter... it was rejected because of the wrong fee payment... make the right fee payment ($455) and it should go through

YMMV
