Question on i-864

This is truly confusing...

In Part 3 it askes the petitioner if they're sponsoring the principle immigrant named in part 2, that's me... Check box.

Then check box again for yes...

THEN... in question 10, it asks to name total number of immigrants.... 1, just me, right?

But then we get to household size, this is the odd part, enter number if immigrants 1, thats' me. then petitioner, that's 1, so that's two. but then it askes petitioner to enter 1 for spouse, thats' me again. Um... that's 3, my friends. As far as I know, there's only he and I... ;)

So, what's the correct answer as I am both the immigrant and the spouse. Which do we check?

Thanks again.

This is actually all the questions I had so far.

Thanks guys, I will pass on what I learn to the next batch.

Best,

LGG

DO NOT COUNT ANYONE TWICE

Read the instructions carefully.

21a. 1

Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit:

21b. 1 (sponsor and all ready filled in for you)

21c. 0 (since you are the spouse, and you are being sponsored, you would not enter a '1' here)

21d. 0

21e. 0

21.f 0

21g. 0

21h. 2

I get two, with the info you gave.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

21C asks him "if are currently married, enter 1 for your spouse. I am bth a and c, aren't I?

I know, I'm a noob, whatever. Well, not a USCIS noob anymore, just a NVC one.

:D

Am I the spouse or the person being sponsored? I read it that I'm both.

Thanks Bobby_U..

This is not an issue, the I-864 confuses many sponsoring a spouse.

The spouse line is for cases where a person may be a joint sponsor, or are sponsoring other relatives like children and siblings.

Moving this to NVC forum
