Name Change re: Police record check.

Wondering, am going in for my police certificate on Monday, I'll give them my maiden name as i've used that for all my years save for the past 2 weeks. Will NVC want a name check done on my new married name was well?

Will I have to do two name checks?

Just one check and you ask them to check both maiden and married

So for mine, the actual certificate listed my married name only, but the application shows that both my maiden and married names were checked. Both the application and the certificate had the "official seal" thing on them, and the certificate number on the certificate matches the CPIC Serial Number on the application, so I guess that shows that they go together. Anyway, I submitted both pages together to NVC and I didn't have any problems.

Holliday....how long did it take for you to get the certificate? Also is there an expiration date for this certificate. I am still waiting for my NOA2 but trying to get everything done for NVC stage so I'll go get it done now if possible.

I got my certificate the day after I had requested it. The amount of time it takes seems to vary from 10 minutes to a few weeks. There is no expiry date on my certificate, but I think it's valid for a year, so I think it can't hurt if you go get it now.

My app was very simple: check off the boxes beside the databases I wanted checked (did them all), fill in personal info (including any previous names used) and two days later it was ready for pickup (after prepaying $35, of course).

My "certificate" is just a plain black-on-white legal-sized paper with a line at the bottom that states that the above name(s) were not found in any of the above listed national databases, etc, with the embossed stamp at the side and the police chief's signature in red. Was somewhat disappointing, heh, but hey... 'least it proves I'm not a criminal.
