Thank you so much!! What a relief to finally have it done!

I had my interview on the 23rd, and the medical on the 24th. I got to the consulate on time, and there were only 2 others waiting. So the whole thing from start to finish took about 1 1/2 hours. Handed in my forms etc, was told to wait for a bit, did fingerprints. Then they started calling everyone for interviews. I was last. Not too sure how the other two went, but one girl left not really looking happy. :( I hope everything works out for her. She was so upset, she left the "do not exit" door!

Ok...my turn. Had the woman interviewer. Hong. Basic questions..."when did you meet?; when did you get engaged? What does he do? What do you do?" very simple. When I told her I worked for Curves, she says..."ohhhhh I got to get into fitness, I'm getting fat!!" I love those reactions! But then it was "what does he do?" that I thought..."oh oh...here we go"...

I told her Tim used to be a jeweler, but retired in 2007. She say, oh how much does he make? *Getting real nervous here*..."about 13,00/ month almost 15,000/year." She looks at me and say, "that's not very much! How are you going to live?" So I said that he has an IRA over $15, 000 plus owns his own home. And I will be selling mine for $195,000. She asked how much equity in the house of mine, and I told her all of it, because I'm a widow, and the mortgage was paid off after my husband died. She was VERY satisfied with that!!!!! It's important to note, we DID NOT have co sponsors. Tim wanted to do this all on his own. She also asked if I was going to work, when I can legally, and I said I MAY look for something, but I'm going to enjoy the break!! (which is not a lie!! I don't know about working yet..lol)

So then she says....."So Tim was a jeweler right? Does he know how I can get real coral earrings???" I couldn't believe it!! We're talking about my future, and she's talking about earrings!!! She said she's tried everywhere even online, and having a hard time. I told her I'll ask him...lol. "Well, everything is good here, and approved, pending the medical."

The medical went very well too. Got there early, was one of the first 4, but somehow a family slipped in front, *shrugs* and I ended up number 6. Oh well. Blood work, (hate needles) x ray, and WAIT!! Finally I get called, Doctor comes in. She's very nice!! wish she could be my personal doctor. She had a way of putting me at ease. I knew I would pass, but all of a sudden I was scared I'd be unhealthy!!! Oh...and it poured in Vancouver and I forgot my jacket!! So I was soaked when I got back to the hotel! Picked up my results, took them to the Consulate, talked with the assistant there, (can't remember his name) he looked at the results, gave me back the x ray, (gee thanks) said "you're healthy!" "are you sure..with all this stress??" So they'll have to mail me back everything, as I could wait another day to pick it up. I should get it next week :dancing:

When I called Tim to tell him, (and he knew I'd pass my medical) he just wept!! He was so happy. We were very concerned about the financial part. Then I told him about the earrings, and he said to give her his email, and send a picture of what she wants, and he'd make it for her!!! Now..I don't know if she will or not, but I did send a note along with those instructions.

It was soooo easy. Both the interview and the medical. Now to sell my house, and find a home for my dog. (for various reasons, it's just too hard to take her) I can' believe I'm moving in less than two months!!! August 18th is moving day! Wow...am I dreaming.....

Congratulations! I just noticed your wedding date. My friends' wedding is on the same day. I am really hoping I can make it to their wedding in the US. I'll be having a drink on you guys at their wedding :)

 Cheers!!!!
