:( with my name and my accent, I have the feeling I'll always be seen as a stranger. In Quebec, we don't (we can't) change our name when we get married, and I never had the intention to do it anyway... but, I think I'd have to change my first name too, and, well, there's no way I'm changing my identity completely since I like my names! Oh well... I'll survive it :P Edited by La Souris

I am :( but also :D today, just gave my resignation notice at work. I am going to miss it, but also look forward to the 2 weeks before I move to get my life together and start packing! I just hope EI doesn't say I quit too early, not like I am going to be approved for it without the EAD, and who knows at the rate they are spilling out EAD's may not even need EI with my pension! The director is such a great guy, he is so laid back and was absolutely wonderful about it, he knew that it was coming, just did not know when I planned on resigning. Wished me all the best and said for sure you can use me or any of the supervisors as a reference. We had a fun talk about weddings and long distance and all of that, oh god I am think I am going to tear up a lil, I met so many wonderful co workers and clients, it has been an amazing year with them! :crying: I hope I am that lucky when I venture into the Omaha job market!

My last name is very French and people can never pronounce it properly. I actually think I secretly enjoy watching them struggle with it and that's why I like to keep it. :P

Lol my last name is actually French for name and it's AMAZING how it gets butchered. I think in all my years of school I had one teacher not call me apple at first haha

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

Quite a few surnames of americans are butchered versions of their former selves. My grandfather when he came to this country, Ellis Island officials decided that they had too many German people coming in that week. Despite my grandfather's insistance and paperwork to prove that he was NOT German but from Prussia, they still cut his name up. They cut the von off, and the end of it was mann, they cut the second "n" off, thus making it a generic British sounding name.

So we still haven't received a refund of our security deposit for the house we rented in Florida, which seems a bit odd.

I gave the house owner my Sister's address as I thought it would be easier for her - not having to buy a special stamp etc, plus my Sister will mail it to our U.S. bank for us.

Anyway, it's been 2.5 weeks since we left and she was at the house when my Husband left and went on and on about how great it looked - I also talked to her on the phone after that as she had left a message wanting the phone number for the guy who mowed the lawn - and again she couldn't have been nicer, said do not hesitate to use me as a reference and how wonderful we are etc etc.

So I am confused and I hate to call her - hi, where is our $1000?

A lot of people down here mistake me for a Spanish person.

The funniest was at Disney world and the woman took my picture with Mickey and then gave me this ticket to go buy the photo and she spoke to me in Spanish. I just nodded and walked away.

LoL, I get the exact opposite. I speak spanish fluently, but nobody around me realizes it. It's funny hearing a lot of the comments.

Speaking of names being butchered.

My daughter's name is Nigerian and it is so massively butchered, we just laugh about it now.

Na gawzi

Na- gazia

Ozzie (i know...i mean really?)

Nigsby (this person didn't even try)

Gasia

and many many more

Greetings everybody. I am back but not really here. LOL. I caught a cold from my uncle in Vancouver who caught it from my cousin (his daughter) from England so I am currently drugged up and spaced out. If I post anything weird (if I post at all) it is because of that. Plus, I feel like I am underwater. bleh. I already left a voicemail with my hairdresser telling them to call me back at their phone number.

Will fill you all in on my adventures once I'm able to reconnect neurons. :dead:

Welcome home! I have really, really missed you (VBG)! Ok, get better soon and I hope you had a great trip in spite of coming home with a cold (I hate flying with colds - it seems to make them so much worse!).

Haha. I was thinking of you, Kathryn. I felt really bad for you so I have brought you a peace offering of Tim Hortons coffee. I'll let you know when my inbox is empty so you can send me your address. LOL. In fact, my husband is down the road from you right now. I should have sent it with him. He's in Atlanta on business this week. Yes, my vacation was FABulous. I had the best time evah!

Oh Oh Oh, Timmies! And I think I posted while you were on holidays that I had just used up the last of my Tim Horton's coffee! That really is sweet and thoughtful of you and I appreciate it very much. Thank you! Hmm, yes, your husband could have brought it - ah well. How long is he in Atlanta for? I'm really glad you had a good time - and hope you get over your cold soon:D.

hehehe, you have a lot of reading ahead of you - I know most of what went in your inbox! I stopped copying you on stuff during the first few days and only started again just before your return. Enjoy the drama - and did you see my new personal title? It fits!
