We went to the laundrymat today - hmm, anyway, we hadn't washed any clothes in like over a week plus I wanted to wash the quilt and comforter etc - so off we went. It is only around the corner from here. In fact, the last time I went to the laundrymat it was the same one - when we lived in this apartment complex like 8 years ago!

Thing I like about a laundrymat - big machines that wash quite nicely and big dryers - so you get a lot accomplished.

Things I don't like - i'm sure you all already know.

There is a laundry room here in this building, would just take too long to do all that stuff, but we will use it from now on. I think our little trip cost us about $20.

The landromat at my old apt had little debit cards, so luckily I never needed coins. I do miss the large front loaders to wash my comforter that's for sure! I use my in-laws for large loads, since we do have a normal size washer/dryer in this place

I love the store Susie's Deals store.. everything there is 6 bucks or less...

I roughly spent about 85 bucks there in the last 2 weeks or so but I got 4 pairs of jean capri pants, a pair of shorts, a skirt, 5 tops, 5 tank top shirts and a pair of sunglasses..

at Walmart or Target that would have probably cost about 200 bucks or more...

I love the machines at the laundromat I go to.. they have front loading triple loaders, they cost 3 bucks.. I can usually do a week's worth of laundry in one of those plus a single washer.. that is including towels and sheets too... this is only for two people, of course

they also have front loading double washers... a guy was in there complaining today because they charge 2 bucks for them.. he was pointing at them and saying they were so small and mumbling a bunch of other stuff...lol I wanted to tell him," those are double loaders, moron.. you can fit two loads in there" :P they look small but they can hold a lot of stuff...

one thing that I wonder about is why some people put a single load in a triple washer :wacko:

I love the laundromat! I know i'm weird! lol! We were staying at a Staybridge Suites before our house was ready...I used to do laundry and hang out. Reminds me of when I was young...my parents owned a hair salon and every Friday night we'd go to wash all the towels... The house we just bought had an old washer that died on us the week we moved in...so the hubby went out and bought us those new large capacity front load machines. They are so quiet...and I can do all my large comforters...I love them! The settings are all pre-set...and they play music when the load is done....funny how we get excited about this kind of stuff when we get older...at 10 years old, I never could have imagined me getting excited over a new washer! lol... we decided that we will go back for those stands...as it elevates them and reduces the need of bending over...I have a bad back and just had back surgery...so any little bit helps :) My husband is so into the machines, he has requested to do his own laundry...no argument here! haha!

I just get bored hanging out there really.

I wouldn't mind having a front loader - but I think I would have stands custom made, to ensure they are high enough.

You are so right. The stands are $200...the plumber who reworked some of our pipes downstairs said he can custom make us stands for less. I think I would prefer that to ensure they are a good fit...I mean, i'm short, but I would love the convenience.

I'm tall, well tall by 'average' standards I guess - at around 5' 8 and a half. I find everything to be too low, from fridges to sinks.

i'm not even 5'2...you'd think that I wouldn't need a stand at all lol :) my husband is 6'3...so everything is always 'high' to my standards...it's most noticeable when I have no shoes on and standing next to him...I fit under his arm pit

Good morning! Gene and I are going to another Cardinals game tonight against the Reds. Looks like it will be another good evening as well with the humidity not being bad at all. I think the Cardinals ordered up this weather just for me!

I just love this coffee picture this morning. :)

Hi everyone.. probably won't be posting very much anymore... my ROC is complete now so I'm finding the pull away to other things.. :)

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that my friends were approved yesterday for the 4 kiddos from Brazil. They will be traveling there sometime in the next 2-3 months to pick up their kiddos.. that is another immigration victory IMO :)

Safe journeys everyone!

We have a front loading washer and would never buy anything else~ use so much less water, rings the water out better, thus the dryer doesnt have to b eon as long, thus saving $$$$ Plus they are suppose to be more gentle on ur clothes.

Another nice day in saskatoon, put on the 2nd coat of paint onthe deck today, as well go check out the casino, and of course a few Tim Hortons!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Wow that's great about your friends approval Em! Congratulations to them!

I don't even know what to say about you taking off on us

Carla, love the coffee too!

I used to have a front loading washer several years ago, in NZ, it was a combo washer/dryer - so you could just set it and come back when the clothes were dry - I never really used the dryer though, used to hang everything up outside.
