If I didn't know better I'd swear it was a full moon night - but that was last week! I'll be glad when Krikit is back, hehehe. In the meantime, I think I need a drink!

Poor poor you. You truly are the zoo-keeper here.

Good morning everyone! What a glorious morning here today. The humidity has left us, at least for today, and I'm going to enjoy it so much getting outside! After I go to my volunteer placement this morning I'm meeting with my supervisor to talk about upcoming training that I'm going to be involved in. I'm so excited to take on this new project!

For those of you that may not know about my volunteer work, there was a recent article in the Post-Dispatch about our role in Long Term Care Facilities. I've provided a link to those that might be interested. After the article there was six phone calls by noon by interested people! We desperately need more volunteers, so this is so exciting!

Enjoy your day!

Good morning all!

Thanks for posting that Carla, now I see what you 'do'! How interesting and how great that these folks have someone like you on their side. This position is soooo 'you'! What a great program.

So it's no secret that I don't really like the apartment we are living in. So I notice last night when we are out walking that the apartment we used to live in looks - empty. So I call about it this morning and she tells me that unit is reserved for big wig company people - hmm.

Anyway, there is basically nothing available facing the nice view - so I have decided - whatever - this is where we live and we will make due for our six month lease then get out of hereeeee

Hehehehe, how perfect! I love it!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ever since Mel and I decided that we were going to get married, we've had an ongoing converstation about where we were going to live. I had initially volunteered to move to Canada, but seeing as my job paid quite a bit more, and the fact that she was completely fed up with snow, we decided that it would be best for her to move here. Outside of a couple of stintes in Derry, N.Ireland, Valencia Spain, and Clemson, S. Carolina, i've lived my entire life in Los Angeles. I love it here. I love the real cultural diversity and especially the food. But this weekend, we started looking at moving, seeing as our lease is up at the end of October, and our new irritating neighbor has been loud and obnoxious again, we started our search. Everything is so ridiculously expensive if you want to live near the beach. Then on a whim, Mel looked up what we could get for what we are paying now in London, Ontario where she's from. Good god, we could afford a 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse with a backyard for what we pay for our tiny apartment. So, we have expanded our search of where we are looking to move. For right now, we're going to stick in Los Angeles area..... my job's benefits are really too good. I like my job, and love the people, but we are looking more long-term at moving to Canada now. She has put her foot down though, NO to Churchill Manitoba (I love polar bears), No Thunder Bay (I just love the name), No to Moosejaw (Again, just love the name), and HELL NO to Yellowknife (I watch far too much Ice Road Truckers). But then again, we're also looking at the Atlanta area too. Who knows at this point

There is nothing wrong with Moose Jaw!

I agree wityh a big no to moose jaw, lol! I love Sask, but there are only a few places here I would reside in! Grew Up in prince Albert, but would never live there again, far too dirty now! Love Saskatoon!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Prince Albert may be dirty, but Moose Jaw? You're such a brat! Saskatoon is by far the best though. ;)

I grew up in PA and was a safe city! Going back there to visit the past few yrs, just don't have that safe feeling! I wont say why, as I may not word my words in away that wont sound offensive--which is not my intentions!! And in reality, i don't put the blame on that ethnicity, more of the blame towards the govt as their solution is just to throw $$$ at the problem and just stick their heads in the sand and not educate anyone!!

Yeah last time I went through there I did not want to get out of the car. I am sure it used to be a safer city, but its not that way anymore thats for sure.

We went to the laundrymat today - hmm, anyway, we hadn't washed any clothes in like over a week plus I wanted to wash the quilt and comforter etc - so off we went. It is only around the corner from here. In fact, the last time I went to the laundrymat it was the same one - when we lived in this apartment complex like 8 years ago!

Thing I like about a laundrymat - big machines that wash quite nicely and big dryers - so you get a lot accomplished.

Things I don't like - i'm sure you all already know.

There is a laundry room here in this building, would just take too long to do all that stuff, but we will use it from now on. I think our little trip cost us about $20.
