I don't know what to do about my dog.

He keeps eating the cat's food, I'm pretty sure he just ate it right now. He was doing the whole lip licking thing and his food dish has all the food in it still and the cat's was empty.

I have no clue what I can do to get him to stop eating the cat food. He probably eats it because he also eats a fish formula... I wonder if I should be switching food.

The cat food doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot to him, but I'm scared it'll hurt him in the future if he keeps eating it.

I don't think the cat food will actually harm the dog. Typically, they are very similar.

As for getting him to stop, the easiest method is to elevate the cat food. The cat shouldn't have problems getting to it, and the dog won't be able to do a drive by on it.

Eventually, the dog will get used to it being there and his food being the one to eat.

It may be challenging to use other methods, especially if you're giving wet food to the cat and dry food to the dog (I'm not exactly sure from your post).

Many animals seem to prefer wet foods, and even view it as more of a treat.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

They both eat dry food. I'm scared to give my dog wet food cause he seems to throw some foods up easily. Not the cat food though.

I'll have to look into elevating the cat food. I hope the cat doesn't mind

I read that cat food has more flavour than dog food so that's why they eat it over their own.

I'll have to watch my dog a bit and see if I can just catch him trying to eat the cat food.

If he still does, I'll have to find a place for the cat food so my dog starts eating his own again.

Thanks everyone :)

I'm not going to argue about this. Whatever.

All I know is, both dog and cat food are quite tasty.

Mmmmm.

Good luck with that! :)

John and I are on a debt reducing diet right now as well. We want to have a nice savings for a downpayment for a home when we go to buy one.

Dogs eating cat food CAN injure them given that the percentages of proteins/minerals is quite different in the two foods.

i've heard that cat food has a higher protein content, and when my dog would eat the cat food, she'd scratch all the time. i put the cat food up high where the dog couldn't get it, and the scratching was greatly decreased.
