So my wife is going to be here from the 24th until early morning on January 3rd. As usual, she'll be flying into Seattle, and I'll drive down and pick her up. Obviously I'm a tad concerned about crossing the border, given that I don't have a lot by way of proof of ties...but I've got a backup plan at least.

Anyhow, her flight leaves at 8:00 AM on Sunday, Jan. 3rd, so we decided that our best bet would be to get a hotel on Saturday and stay the night in Seattle.

So today, I decided to try out Priceline.com for the first time, since I just wanted a hotel close to the airport...actual distance didn't matter much. I decided to try out their "name your price" feature, where you pick how much you want to pay, then put in your financial information and take what they give you. I decided to try for $50 in a 2.5 star hotel. I wound up getting the Hilton, which is a 3 star hotel RIGHT AT the airport. When I went to the hotel's website, they have some text right on there that says, "Reservations starting at $129".

That's pretty damn good, I gotta say!

I'm not having a very good day otherwise, so that's some good news. :)

I love Priceline (only after mastering it)! In my experience, the results are a bit disappointing for any hotels 3-stars or less so I don't do that anymore. I've gotten away with $55/night for 4-stars or more, especially during this recesssion. :)

My Christmas trip is the opposite direction of your wife's (going from west to east). I'm amtraking from Vancouver to Seattle on the 23rd, meet hubby and flying to Chicago for a couple of weeks. Pricelined our hotel--$60/night at the Hilton downtown Chicago. We're gonna announce my preggos during the family Christmas dinner!

I remember when Priceline first started. I would put in some ridiculous bid each week on flights to a couple of cities in Europe that I had friends living in. I won about a dozen times, and almost always they were last minute flights. Like for example, I put in a bid of $75 for a flight to Amsterdam on a monday, for a flight leaving that friday afternoon. Friday I got back from lunch at 1:00 p.m. and there is an email in my inbox notifying me that my bid was accepted and that my flight left in 4 hours.

My co-workers are SO nice.

They gave me a USA survival kit. Everything in the kit is Canadian.

I got a Canada scarf, blanket and mug. 2 Maple lolly pops. A stuffed beaver. Tim Hortons hot chocolate and english toffee. AND a Celine Dion CD LOL.

I also got a cake :)

OH and I got 1 bottle of Molson Canadian haha

Honestly though, vulgarity aside, that sounds like you've got some great co-workers! Very cool parting gift. :)

Well my boss said "Lets take a picture of Peachey with her beaver" so I put the stuffed thing near my crotch. It was funny. (not to worry, I had pants on)

Apparently bad days don't impede upon your pun mastery.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Which begs the question - are there days you go to work sans pants?
