Slow forum this morning. All the Canadians must be hungover from their Christmas parties last night. :P

If only! Nope, just a cold, wet, rainy day here on ground that is already saturated so the water just sort of stands on top of everything. I would have loved just to stay nice and cozy in bed but alas, it was not to be. We were going to drive down to Senoia, a small town about 45 minutes drive south of us because the Budweiser Clydesdales are going to be there parading up and down the main street and we thought it would be kind of fun - but as much as I love horses, I don't think I want to stand around in the cold rain, so I think we will just go to Barnes&Noble for some coffee instead.

Our Christmas party is next week though - so no telling what next Sunday morning will bring. :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I wish I was partying too! Unfortunately I spent hours and hours trying to get my Christmas shopping done to no avail. I got some stuff but not everything I really needed. I've had some bad customer service experiences already this year... I had a woman try to sell me a scratched up necklace at this engraving store and then argued with me when I said it was all scratched because it was the display item, had a waiter at Champs serve us food and then NEVER came back for the whole dinner (tip=zero!) and then at Target the checkout lady was talking to a woman at the checkout she knows in some way and spent a good 10 minutes just chatting away with her and completely ignoring me. I don't have all day! Rawr, I love Christmas but its already annoying me.

Next week is Christmas party week! I have one at Dave and Busters on Wednesday (I love that place so much we had our rehearsal dinner there ) and then there is a casino party up in the mountains Saturday and some kind of family hoopla on Sunday. After the week I just had bring on the Margaritas!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Speaking of Facebook...I have this friend on there (when I say friend, I mean I "knew of him" in high school, and he kept asking me out, but I always said no because he scared me... that kind of friend,) who has been posting some really creepy stuff lately. His whole wall is filled up with things about how he is "waiting for the first person to even look at him wrong so he can tear them open and let them bleed to death while he stands watching" and other disgusting violent ideas.

I wish I could recall some of the things on there, but he literally posts long "threats" like this everyday, and I'm beginning to wonder if I should say something. I noticed that his girlfriend broke up with him recently, so I'm betting that has something to do with it.

I'm starting to worry that if someone doesn't say something soon that he is going to explode and do something he'll regret, but I'm not even sure how seriously authorities in Canada would take Facebook posts.

/sigh I hate drama.

Call me a coward but I wouldnt say anything to him if he can track you down. He sounds crazy.

It sure sounds like a desperate cry for attention though....

Oh heck no...I wasn't going to say anything to him about it lol. I was thinking more along the lines of reporting it to authorities, but I doubt I will even do that, as I'm not too sure how seriously the RCMP would take facebook mumblings.

I think you'd be surprised! My little sister had some issues with this a few years back. She was 12 years old at the time, and a "friend" and her were talking about a girl from school they didn't like, and I guess in passing my sister said something she shouldn't have about wanting to kick the girl, or smack her, or something stupid kids say when they're angry. Well long story short, my sisters "friend" and her got in a fight, she showed the girl they were talking about a transcript of the convo, the girls mom read it and called the cops, and they came down to the school and were going to arrest my sister. She shouldn't have said it, no, but she was a kid and didn't realize it could come back around. She had never really been in trouble her whole life, straight A's, the whole bit. In the end cooler heads prevailed and they let her off with a warning, but it goes to show you how things you put out on the internet can come back and haunt you! I know its a different situation, but I was really surprised by the cops willingness to take action.

Wow Hugglebuggles, I am surprised! Kids stay stupid stuff like that all the time. That will freak a kid out for while!

As per the crazy FB poster, it would be a shame if he were to act on it and you felt you could have done something and didn't. I wouldn't have thought authorities would have done much about it either, but I guess in light of other comments, it is worth a try.

I agree...I've done some hard thinking about it the last couple hours, and think it's about time someone said something. I would hate to have something like that on my conscience if anything were to come of it.

Hmph....the RCMP pretty much just laughed me off the phone. They recommended reporting him to facebook (yeah, ok...what are they going to do, e-slap him?.)

If his ex-g/f winds up dead I can't say I didn't try.

:( that's too bad. Yeah, at least you tried.

Will you report him to facebook?? I can't see what they would do either...

Well, that was an interesting read.

That topic that got closed in the Introductions section of the forums.

Really... quite an interesting read.

The immaturity of people amazes me sometimes.

Quite amusing at the same time though.

Interesting indeed...

I was initially rather shocked by the brashness of a couple of posters, but the OP's reaction was so ridiculously over the top (and relentless) that I really can't feel an ounce of sympathy for her. If she'd made one or two tactful posts about how she is certain her fiance doesn't fall into the category of the others mentioned, it would have ended there. But she blew it out of proportion. What a train wreck...

I just went and read the entire thing. I was pretty taken aback...I wonder how long she'll last though...

I just read it too and wow. Her overreaction and defensiveness actually makes me think she is doubting something herself or has heard this before. If someone was to question the validity of my relationship in that manner I would have simply laughed it off, knowing its not true. If you know its not true than why let things like that bother you so much? I don't really know. But wow, I don't feel bad for her either, she obviously needs to learn some social skills.

Did anyone else see the pictures? Does something seem wrong with them to you too? I mean, he's... not to bad looking, I mean not to bad at all.

I thought the same thing. Her defensiveness made me think deep down she knew it might be true. I understand she is probably feeling emotional and vulnerable (she wouldnt be the only here) but her reaction was over the top. I read a little bit about the Mariages gris one poster was talking about. I hope she did too and will be able to see warning signs if there are any. But these guys seem to be really skilled con artists, who arent afraid to go very far to get what they want... baby and all. Hopefully she can step back, calm down and take into account what she was told.

and... yesh... he is pretty hot.

Greetings from Ontario!

I was going to Vent about my trip up to Canada, but I didn't get home until almost midnight.

But...since I'm here safely, I'll give you the non-vent, short version of what happened:

Arrived at Dulles at 8:00am for my 10:00am flight to Detroit on NorthWest Airlines to connect to Toronto to arrive at 2:10pm.

We leave Dulles, hear a really loud and not normal sound when the landing gear is going up. Turns out there's something wrong and we have to return to Dulles....but we can't right now because we're too heavy and have to burn fuel. So we fly around for 45minutes and then return. Needless to say, I wasn't going to make my connection.

I get off the plane, to pick up my skychecked luggage, of course, it's the last one off, and I'm last in line to rebook. Bad. Good: International flights get to go to the front of the line.

Rebooked for a flight at 12:45pm leaving for Detroit with a 4hour layover before leaving for Toronto to arrive at 7:30pm.

Parents find a better flight on Delta (who is merged with NWA) leaving Dulles to Cincinatti, to Toronto to arrive at 6:00pm.

So they rebook me on that flight. Yay.

Finally leave Dulles at 2:45pm arrive in Cincinatti with no problems. Make my way over to my connecting gate with about 20minutes before boarding.

Get on the plane, getting ready to go and they say "We're having issues with weight on the plane...are there any volunteers to rebook?" No...of course not. So the lady at the gate comes back on and curtly says: "Since no one volunteered, you're all going to have to deplane and this flight is delayed for about an hour"

GREAT

I was livid and everyone on that plane knew it

So they need 7 people to volunteer to rebook...and if I was on my home to Virginia, I would have done it in a heartbeat, but I just wanted to get to Toronto to see my parents.

So they have 6...and the same lady who deplaned us says, "If we don't get one more, I'll have to do an involuntary bump" and with my luck...it would probably have been me.

So, thankfully they got someone else.

We get on the plane, and we finally leave for Toronto, for me to arrive at 7:00pm, 5 hours after I should have been there, and I got on a plane 4 times when it should have been 2.

Oh, and I wasn't even offered a food voucher, but I did hear "we're sorry for the inconvenience" about a million times.

Not a fan of NWA or Delta now. Should have driven up, it would have been quicker

Oh well...so that's my story, I'm here now, and on Wednesday I get to have more Delta and connection fun to get back to Dulles. Wish me luck :D

That sucks J&K. Hoping your return flight makes up in easiness for what you endured going up.

J&K: That sounds like a terrible experience! I hate to say it, but I think you just hit some really bad luck yesterday. I've flown NWA dozens of times through the years and I've seriously never had 1 issue. No flight was ever delayed over 2 hours, I never missed a connection and they never lost my luggage. I've always been a big fan of their service since I started using them to visit my husband (then boyfriend) back in 2005. I'd suggest not letting this bad experience turn you away from them forever!

Oh when it hits, I'm usually the queen of bad luck

There were a couple of good notes...being able to go up to the front of the line, the lady from Delta who was able to change my flight from NWA to Delta, another Delta employee changed my seat from 14D to 3B (a bulkhead with no one beside me) because my connection was only 30mins after I landed in Cinci, the gentleman taking the bags at Sky Check when I got on the plan to go to Cinci put it near the front, again because my connection was so close, and, most importantly the fact that my luggage made it on the same flight as me :D

So, there were some good things.

And true, I'm here, and I hope nothing else goes wrong.

Plus, tomorrow I get to go to one of my favourite places in the world. Duke's Sports Store in Toronto to try on and customize some new goalie gear :D

Me=Happy :D

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend. As part of my birthday gift from last month, Gene got me two tickets to see TSO (Trans-Siberian Orchestra). Don't know if anyone has ever seen them, but WOW, just WOW. Sensory overload though. Glad I got to see them, but don't know that I'd go again. Enjoyed a dinner out afterwards though! Overall, a wonderful night!

Enjoy your day.
