What is the difference between CHECKLIST COVER LETTER & RFE

Hey i got a email with checklist cover letter stating that i need to send my Ds230

is there any difference between that and RFE

i am sending my DS230 on thursday this week.

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

the Checklist Cover is the one they send to you when you get Request for Evidence.

It's alright, they generate Request for Evidence for the DS230 every week after you pay for it until

they receive it.

hmmm a cover letter is letter stating the content and list of your requirements you sent to the USCIS while RFE is a request for some additional information about the petitioner or the benificiaries.

Not in the case of CR1/IR1, in this case the coversheet checklist is a RFE. it is sent by NVC when something is missing. In the OP case they have paid the on line fee bill but as yet the NVC has not received the paperwork from them so they generate a coversheet checklist that is emailed to the agent.

Abby, same like you, we were going to send the DS-230 and that same day we received a cover sheet from NVC via e-mail, and my husband noticed that the previous cover sheet we got from them had a different case number - it just didn't match ours. Good thing we didn't send the package yet, so my husband just printed the new cover sheet and attached it to the package. Check again your older cover sheet and see if your case is the same. If you are receiving an e-mail from NVC stating that they are missing DS-230 part I, that's definitely a false RFE - it means they are still waiting on it. Good luck! :thumbs:

mine they both are the same

but i print the one in email and i am sending it with the ds230 tomorrow

i am still waiting for her passport copies from philippines

she will have it today and i should be able to mail it at night at kinko
