Why should tomorrow be the 6 month mark? the 29th is the date on my noa1. I already have called my senators. They are supposedly trying to get my case off the desk of the officer, and in the hand of a supervisor.

hmmm, why did you get engaged after you applied for a k1 and not b4?

hmmmm maybe because we made a verbal commitment before we exchanged a piece of metal

I don't get it. Engagement doesn't mean marriage. You can marry when you want. for me verbal commitment is more important than the piece of metal.

When am I going to get this freaking approval! Never did I think I would be waiting this long. I'm going to have a meltdown.

Stay calm, my journey was really long. Try to find an activity to do while you wait. This is my recomendation. I know it is hard to stay away of your SO but soon you will be together.

No senators really have the authority or means to do this unless you are outside normal processing times. After that they can ask for an expedite.

Did your senator verify that it was in the hands of an officer?

If your case is with an officer, that is a GOOD thing! Once your case is assigned to an officer it usually isnt much longer before the NOA2.

I hope you get an approval very soon.

Good Luck :)

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Yes they told me it was in an officers hands like 2 weeks ago. Now my case has been expedited to the supervisors desk. Today I am supposed to get the conformation of that. I don't want to bug them again asking for that info. So I will wait till tomorrow to see what they say about my case at the supervisors desk. Usually I was told that leads to an immediate approval!

hmmmm, maybe she asked because engaged means:

en⋅gaged

/ɛnˈgeɪdʒd/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [en-geyjd] Show IPA

Use engaged in a Sentence

–adjective

1. busy or occupied; involved: deeply engaged in conversation.

2. pledged to be married; betrothed: an engaged couple.

3. under engagement; pledged: an engaged contractor.

4. entered into conflict with: desperately engaged armies.

5. Mechanics.

a. interlocked.

b. (of wheels) in gear with each other.

6. Architecture. (of a distinct member) built so as to be truly or seemingly attached in part to the structure before which it stands: an engaged column.

you may notice the bolded line says pledged to be married, like the Letter of Intent stated when you sent in you I-129F, also like what the USCIS is looking for, thats why the call it a fiance(e) visa hehehe, they don't issue visas to people who apply but are not engaged, especially when they don't think they are when they mail it in for approval...hope in anything you wrote to them you didn't mention you werent engaged until 2-3 months after applying for visa.

Ditto...we are engaged but I keep telling him it isn't real till I get that ring on my finger next month! We will be counting that as the "engagement date" as well because frankly...we've been planing on getting married for years...there was no official 'proposal'. The date my divorce was final and we sent in the I129f isn't exactly the most romantic date to say was our official engagement. So anyways...I understand where you're coming from.

You can totally get engaged without exchanging rings. But on your timeline YOU list that you got engaged after you filed the petition. So far as I see, "pledging" to be married is the same as being engaged. A simple "Will you marry me" followed by a "Yes sure I will" means you're engaged even if rings aren't involved.

Regardless, I don't think this would be reason alone to slow down your petition this long. Was there anything else that may have been out of the ordinary? Work history, visa overstays, etc..?

Lupy-that is just the date we exchanged the ring, or the date I was officially engaged. There was no mention of these things on my petition so no reason for that to prolong my process. I am just one of the unfortunate ones that is being made to wait the entire 6 months.

LilMermaid-I totally know what you mean! If I was marrying a guy here, we would've done everything the traditional way...but LDR are anything but traditional, so you have to do things different ways sometimes.

Like I mentioned before, my case is with a supervisor now, so the next update I expect to hear is that my case has been approved.
