Hi all!! Today Hai Au, with minimal help from me, got us the beautiful PINK!! We want to thank everyone here for all the help you have provided us during our journey, we would have struggled without it. Now to the details: We arrived at the Consolate at 6:00a.m. to meet with lawyer and to get in early. Hai Au went into Consolate at about 6:30 and the wait began. She went from the first waiting area to the interview area at about 7:15. She was in the second group of 40 to go into interview area. She stood in that area until 8:00, then she turned in appointment letter, showed passport and recieved number. She then went into an inner waiting area where they do interviews and sat down. She watched the board for her number(A009). About 8:30 they called her to hand in papers(window 6) like marriage license, police report, DS-230, ID card and some others she can't remember(sorry). The lady checked papers and told here to sit down again. At about 9:25 they called her number and she went to window 7. She greeted the translater and CO with a big smile and a nice to meet you. They took her fingerprints(electronic), and CO asked her in English if her husband could speak Vietnamese. She responded no and CO asked her for her pictures. He apparently decided at that point that interview would be in English. He did not ask to see any paperwork.

Questions:

The CO scanned through pictures and stopped at picture of our wedding.

Who is this? (pointing to my sister)

It is his sister Lynne

Where have you and husband traveled?

We took tour to Nha Trang and Dalat, we also went to Cu Chi Tunnels and Vung Tau.

How did you meet your husband?

My Aunt Hiep gave him my e-mail address.

How do your Aunt and Him know each other?

They are friends and work at the same company.

What company?

Seagate

What does company do?

they make computers

When is the first time you meet each other?

Feb. 3,2008 at Tan So Nhat airport

Where was he born?

St. Paul, Minnesota

When is his birthday?

Jan.24,1959

How many times has he been to VN?

He has been here 3 times and he is here for my interview which is the 4th time.

He asked her a question and she did not understand so she asked him to translate to VN. He asked her in VN and she said he spoke very good Vn. It had something to do with us ever having relationship problems and she told him we had small argument on tour to Dalat but we make up after short time. Apparently that satisfied him.

What will you do when you come to the U.S.?

We plan I will go to school to learn more English, try to find job and start family because we love babies.

Was he married before?

Yes, one time

Does he have any kids?

No

Why?

Because they both go to school and have jobs. They plan to have kids later but then have problems and get divorce.

So how many kids do you want to have?

She said 5 and both him and the translater started laughing.

He said you have good husband and he signed the PINK!! paper with a big smile on his face.

She gathered her papers, got her cell phone back and went outside. I saw her accross the street and she had a big smile and gave us the Victory sign. I started to cross the street but she stopped me because she probably thought I would get run over. It was 10:00 when she left Consolate and we went to nearby restaurant for celebration drink. We will fly back to U.S. on July 3rd, POE Chicago, and then to Minneapolis. When she was waiting for interview, she saw one girl with baby, one older woman and lady in late thirties get pink. She saw one woman with son get blue. The CO asked the son questions and he could not answer them. We knew two other girls that had interview today and we later learned that they both got blue. Hai Au was done with interview so fast that we could not get an idea of how many got pink vs. blue. Hai Au said CO was very friendly American and the VN. woman translater was also friendly but did not get a chance to speak much. She told me that looking at CO when answering questions is important and she thinks that a friendly greeting was also helpful. Surprisingly, she said that she did not feel nervous during the wait or interview and she said that comes from knowing you are truthful and sure of your case. A girl Hai Au had talked to before interview told her that she was unsure about their case and they were one of the ones to get blue. Another thing that surprised me was they did not ask her for a timeline. This does not mean that we recommend not doing one, we did have one. They told one of the girls that got blue that her husband needs to do one and submit it. That is about it for our interview, if anyone has questions, please feel free to ask. It may take a couple days to respond because we have to go to internet shop, but we will respond. Thanks again to all that have helped us to get here and we wish the best of luck to those still on the journey. Everyone Take Care, bye for now.

Dave and Hai Au

Obama is giving FREE health care to all, so why not? 5 is nothing! There's that mommy who already had 8 kids (give or take, I can't remember the exact number) and STILL had another bunch via vitro fertilization and made the headline news recently.

Only in America! Gave birth a bunch and let the taxpayers taking care of your medical bills! (and other bills but we're not into too much further details here).

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

Thanks to all for the well wishes. We often joke about having 10 kids but Hai Au figured she better not give CO reason to doubt our sanity. I am sure we will drift further south from 5, maybe in the 2-4 range. :) We are wondering what papers she will need at POE which is Chicago. Is that a good or bad POE? What exactly happens as far as processing? We were so busy concentrating on interview that we failed to look ahead, sorry. Once again, we hope you guys will bail us out with some info. We are wondering what is up with you guys Dan (Mr. Leggs)? We hope there is some progress in your case and that you have PINK soon. Our lawyer told Hai Au that Consolate is giving out more blues lately to slow down immigration to U.S. due to the bad economy. Don't know if this theory holds any water, but it was interesting. Maybe the hardest part of this journey will be when we have to say goodbye to her family, it will be extremely hard. I guess everyone goes through it, so we must also. Take Care everyone, God Bless.
