Is it worth applyng for removal of conditions/ IR-1 green card?

Hi

I am considering spending a year or 2 back in the UK due to family issues. I want to come back after that but my 2 year green card expires the exact month I plan to travel back.

Is it worth me applying for the removal of conditions and receiving my IR-1 green card or will it be void anyway if I leave the country for 1-2 years?

Quick P.S - I realise i have not added that the plan is for my Husband to join me and apply for a visa to live in the UK. Will this automatically void anything I do with my removal of conditions?

Usually you get an extension of 6 months or so to be away from US. I think living away for 2 years will void your GC. Since you and husband will be living in UK together, you can always file for DCF whenenever the time is near to come back to US. With that your VISA processing time will be pretty short plus you will get your IR-1 visa.
