My experience of getting the stamp due to no NOA

So recently I told people on here that I applied to remove the conditions on my greencard in May and the check was cashed soon after but no NOA. Well my greencard expires 6/20 (today infact!) and it concerned me I had nothing to prove my legal status. So I did call the misinformation line who told me they had mailed it out on May 22nd and that it had not been returned to them so it was somewhere in the mail and that it could not be resent untill the 24th of June. She also informed me my biometrics letter was sent out the 16th June which I have not got just yet either.

Anyway, I made an infopass to get a stamp at my cloesest office in San Diego, CA. I wanted to go before I expired but no days off (but I had been out of town for a week earlier in this week hoping NOA would come in this time) so I went there early o'clock to get back in time for work. So I got there and it was dead one guy in there other than me. The lady who helped me asked me to explain the situation, asked for my passport and my greencard and told me to take a seat. She called me back up and checked my address with me of the one they had in the system, which was correct and she showed me my passport which she stamped for a year and included the receipt numbers - she said there are two for my case which but so far I have not been able to get either to work! Then she cut my old green card, told me I can work and travel on my stamp and if I submitted alot of evidence then I may not get interviewed, if we didn't then we would and I said I knew and estimated how much I sent in and she smiled and I told her I didn't get interviewed at AOS and she looked shocked and said "really?! How did THAT happen?" then shrugged - why do IO's not seem to understand that this happens?

Anyway I was done in 15mins and now I do not have to worry so much :D

Yeah I know it is ####### - we have had problems with the mail system around here recently, I am starting to think one guy is manning the san diego main sorting office :P

but the biometrics should be here soon. hopefully.

My name is not on the mail box, we live in an apartment complex and our number is clearly stated - we have no had issues with stuff being delivered before just taking forever.

Over the years I've heard mini-horror stories due to carrier not delivering USCIS mail (especially if they're new the the route) without the person's name inside the box (not on the outside, but inside the door/lid). It's an easy fix for a small piece of mind - others reading this should consider doing so as well.

Thanks for that flutter -- even though we got the biometrics letter, the NOA1 has not arrived (and probably never will) so we may be looking to get the stamp if we're not approved before his GC expires in mid-August.

oh that sucks! well at least you have some time. The person I spoke to on the 1800 said once its been 30 days from receipt date they can send another so you could do that and she could also tell me if it had been returned.

Oh a good note, I did get my biometrics appointment today! Bad news is its a really inconvienient time!

Glad to hear you got your passport stamped. It looks like we're going to need to make an infopass appointment too. My husbands greencard expires today and still no NOA.

Btw...what 800 # are you guys calling and getting information from? Everytime we call, no one will give us any information. All they keep saying is we have to wait 30 days, they won't even look anything up to see what's going on. It's getting extremely frustrating.

You should go and see about getting the stamp its good to have just in case you need to prove status.

The 1800 # is the same you call, I spoke to someone who said it has to be over 30 days before they can do anything but why don't I talk to someone in customer service to see if they could help? Sure, ok. Next lady said nothing they could do but gave information about what was sent and when.

Hi flutter95,

Glad that your infopass went well. Can do an early biometric if you would like. See following link to locate your ASC.

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=ASC

Also check if they open on weekend and you can do an early biometric appointment. I did and other members did an early biometric appointment without any problem.

Make sure you have your GC, passport and the appointment letter with you.

Good Luck.
