green card expires soon - still no NOA

So this weekend on 6/20 my green card expires - I filed to remove conditions in May, the package was received and the check was cashed soon after that but as of yet I have recieved no NOA! Now my concern is being in legal status - what do I do to prove my legal status? I live in an area that status is questioned frequently and my employer is asking for proof of extension. I just got back from a week out of town today and my mail had nothing from USCIS while I was gone so basically I am asking for advice.

Do I make an Infopass appointment to try to get a stamp? If I do what are the chances of this happening with nothing but the check clearing as proof of filing.

I am getting nervous, please help!

Flutter, you should be fine. Schedule the infopass appointment ASAP. Go with the copy of the check cashed (both sides) and for sure they will stamp your passport for 1 year. That give you 1 year to live and work while you solve the problem with the missing NOA.

At the same time call the 1-800 and ask about the NOA. I know that the case number that appear in the check does not work in the online website but I am pretty sure they will be a good reference for the IO that will take your call / infopass (my check show a case number that start with WAC-XXX... that is the same receipt number of my NOA so that should work fine for a reference and as receipt of your I-751).

Good luck! and let us know any news about your problem.

Thanks for the reply - I have made an appointment for friday more for infopass - the check that has been cashed is unclear but I will still take it with me! Going to call the 1800 number now and see if that helps.

So I called the 1800 number and spoke to someone who told me my NOA was mailed out sometime in May right around the time they cashed my check but they that is had not as yet been declared undelivered as they had not got it back as of yet. Apparently my biometrics letter was mailed out yesterday so hopefully I get that! She said to do infopass or wait until next week to call for it to be reissued - I am not going to take my chances! Infopass on friday.

We are in the same situation, our package was received and signed for on 5/23, and as of today still no NOA. We've called the 800 number several times and they keep saying we have to wait at least 30 days. The problem is if we wait 30 days, my husbands greencard will be expired. We don't know what to do either. We can't get any information as to the status of our papers from anyone.

Get an info pass, and explain the situation to an IO. They should be able to stamp your husband passport.

Good luck

As long as you have a state ID that is valid, plus social security card that is not restricted, you should be fine with your employer. HR are not supposed to pick and chose which documents to use, in order to prove your eligibility for work.

Good luck with the info pass

Hi flutter95,

Let us know how does it go for you. I am sure your infopass will go fine. Try to be on time and make sure you have print out of the appointment and tell the IO (Immigration Officer) to give you a stamp of I-551 ( 1 year temp GC) on your passport since you didn't get the NOA.

Good Luck.
