Well we've been checking online everyday to see if they've touched our file and everyday it says they haven't. Today my fiance got a letter in the mail from the Department of Homeland Security stating that our petition was approved and being forward to the consulate. YIPEE!

Question: It says it expires on October 9. That means that I have to attend my interview and receive my K-1 Visa before that time right?

I can hardly contain my excitement. VJ forums are the first to know about this since you guys helped us so much with the application.

07/21/2010 - AOS approved

08/04/2010 - Green Card received (and it's actually green!)

05/30/2012 - Sent ROC packet to VSC

06/08/2012 - Received NOA1 for ROC (Dated 06/04/2012)

Congrats! To answer your question, no not necessarily. If your interview is after this date, Montreal automatically extends the expiry date (this happened to me)

NOA1: 2/21/08

Congratulations! Don't worry too much about the 'expiry' date. If it moves slowly through the Consulate (ie waiting for an interview), they will automatically extend the date. They will take care of it for you - you won't need to do anything in that matter. You just need to take care of getting the requested documents and filling out the necessary forms then attending the interview. Good luck.
