Hello everyone,

my fiance has finally got a job (at least it seems like it) . If everything goes as planned he will start working in the end of june and he will be making at least $11,50 an hour, which should meet the income requirements. My question is if it matters for how long he has been employed? I have tried to get in touch with the embassy today but the are not picking up their phone even when they have "phone hours". :bonk: I have already gone through the medical examination and we were planning for me to book my interview as soon as he gets his offering letter. Also does anyone know how long it takes to get the interview after sending the papers in stating that you have all the information you need? I am swedish so I will have my interview here.

I hope someone knows how it works. We are both very excited on starting our "real" life together (L)

Thanks :star:

Yes, no, maybe. There are NO specific rules about that and generally the CURRENT income is "king" as they say. So on the I-134 state his current income as $xx,xxx per year. Never mind he hasn't worked a year, that doesn't matter. It is his current income. The formula for a full time, hourly wage is Hourly wage x 2080 hrs. per year. Yes $11.50 per hour exceeds the guideline for two people.

He will also give a copy of last years tax return. It is not necessary to have met the guidelines last year. Bu tthe consulate will review the case as a whole and make a decision. I have not heard that the Swedich consulate is difficult to deal with in this matter. I would imagine you will be good to go. Attach evidence of current employment to his I-134

In doubt line up a co-sponsor 'cus even though you may have no issues at all there is the possibility they view it as a non stable income. But then again in this crisis I don't know what's going through the officials's heads.

Also does anyone know how long it takes to get the interview after sending the papers in stating that you have all the information you need? I am swedish so I will have my interview here.

My experience with the Embassy here in Sweden was great. They're really friendly and the process is very quick. I had my interview less than 3 weeks after sending them the checklist!

Good luck!!!!
