Dual citizenship?

Hi, does anyone know if my Ecuadorian husband can obtain dual citizenship, Ecuador -US?

And he wants to know if I can get dual citizenship also, or some other kind of recognition from Ecuador?

Seems like someone on here was talking about starting the paperwork in Ecuador for the Spousal Visa a month or so back, but I'm not quite sure. They might be more up to date and remember the details that are starting to fade from my memory.

When I was living in Ecuador I began this paperwork. You don't need a lawyer to do it, but you need a good bit of time and cash to run around taking care of all of the requirements. It's called the Amparo Visa, I think it's number 12-IX. It allows for multiple entries in the country (as opposed to a tourist visa which caps the number of days allowed) and I can't remember if there was something about the ability to own property in Ecuador--I think that's possible, but I'm not 100% sure. It was not a quick process. Plus, I remember that I was about half-way through (had paid for the $230 visa extension to stay on the 12-IX in the country six months longer, had paid whatever else there was, done the blood work, all the papers and whatnot which of course was a huge headache) when it was revealed to me that to get the visa you had to stay in Ecuador for all but 90 days in the calendar year (for the first year? every year?), or some kind of time constraint. For the coming year I could not abide by that requirement so I had to give up the pursuit of the Spousal Visa.

I am not sure what the requirements are for citizenship. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has gone through that process or has done the research on it.
