Hi guys,

When i fax the DS-230 and the checklist back to the consulate, do i HAVE to have all those checklist documents in hand and the medical done already?

Or can i fax them and get the medical done right after that and get the I-134 from my fiance a week after faxing?

I will have everything but the I-134 and medical done and want to be able to send the packet in but don't want to do it until i know for sure if everything must be done beforehand.

Thanks.

No you can send back the checklist without actually completing the checklist in the literal sense. I sent it back before my medical and other assorted items were done

Thanks Jill. I was really worried I would have to have it all figured out. I can get the medical and forms from my honey in about 10 days from when i fax everything so I'm glad to know I can go that route.

Definitely. After all, you really only need all those things in time for the interview. For the medical appt, you do need your MTL case number (cover page of packet 3)

I'll book the medical as soon as I get back on July 6th. That way i'll have the appointment set up. Then it'll just be a matter of renewing my passport which i'm also doing that week and getting my fiance and future father in law to give me their financials

Jill is correct! But I don't think Montreal accepts fax's, you need to mail it to them. Its Vancouver that wants you to fax them. Also, you'll need your passport for the medical, so I wouldn't send it in for renewal until after you have completed it.

Thanks HuggleBuggles. I completely forgot i need the passport for the medical. I'll wait til i have the new one back to schedule the medical. Shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks to get it back anyway. I'm actually going to fax the consulate and send the paperwork to Montreal the same day

I'm ####### like that and want to make sure they get it both ways if i can do it.

You may want to read your directions on your Package 3 letter, as I think that only Vancouver accepts the return of the required documents by fax as Hugglebubbles said. I think at Montreal you have to mail your documents to them.

I'm suggesting that you work on the 134 as fast as you can, at least with gathering the evidence. I waited until the beginning of the month and it has been a hassle and a half trying to get the bank letters. I tried to contact MTL and ask if they were necessary based on the evidence I have already gathered, but their e-mails are about as useful as boobs on a bull sometimes. The branches where my fiance has his accounts are in a different state, he didn't transfer them when he moved from KY to SC so the letters must be sent mailed to him then he has to send them to me. We are still waiting on one, and the other bank is well for lack of a better word stupid. He called and said he needed a letter drafted saying the date he opened the account, the balance and a summary of the deoposits over the past year. They said ok no problem. An hour later the manager from the bank said they could not comply with his request and that he had to call INS if he wants to file an affidavit of support... I

m crossing my toes that he can get through to someone today.. the interview is in 3 weeks today AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Just get your fiance to send you his last statement for each account.

I did not use a bank letter from my fiance as his bank wanted to charge us $ for writing the letter. All I brought were his last 3 paystubs, current bank statement and a letter from his employer stating that he had a job and what is salaray was.
