... be careful even brushing your teeth with it...

Lebanon - many times

Morocco - twice

Never took a shot, but KHP brings up a perfect point and I wanted to add to it.

When you brush your teeth use bottled water dont use the tap water at all. And remember when your in the shower dont let any of the water run into your mouth l ! ! ! !

I drank the water in both Syria and Jordan and had no problems both times. I was cautious at first, but got lazy and it never bothered me. Not sure if the water is filtered better or not. I know my aunt and uncle lived in Egypt for a couple years while working at the Embassy in the late 70s/early 80s and she did get a worm from drinking tea with store owners. She said it was awful and took time to recover from as she discovered it late.

Washing fruits and vegetables (A MUST) in tap water is also troublesome, especially things like salad greens. A lot of the cooties in Egypt are in the food, not just the water. Worms are very common in Egypt as well, but I'm not sure of all of the types of ways they get them... I don't recommend ANY playing in the water... or going barefoot (or wearing flip flops outside) either.

yeah, the food does worry me. we used to get chicken and salad from the a street vendor, it wasn't until my second trip there, on my last day there, that i realized the salad had water in it. could've saved a lot of money on bottled water if i'd known i was eating tap water anyway :P i asked my husband where the water he has comes from, and he said from a pumping station... not sure if that's any better.

Same for me in all my years of staying summers in Jordan...never a thing. I drank the water, brushed my teeth, cooked, etc with it.

As for Egypt I never took the risk w/ the water, food, etc. Bottled water always, teeth, cleaning a cut, rinsing out my contact case, etc...

I have never had shots.
