Hi all,

I got this link from my site. I am surely going to try some of the recipes from here.

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tammy, but most know me as Amina. I am a Canadian woman. I have been married to a man from Somalia for over 15 years. We have 5 children, 4 super hyper active boys and 1 extremely moody girl.

I have been a stay at home for the past 3 years and am planning to go back to school in September. For now any free time I have, I use working on my blog. I created a blog that showcases traditional and modern Somali food.

Please check it out. As always comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Assalaamu Alayki ya Tammy,

Welcome to VJ! Glad to have you here. I was introduced to your site last year by a Somali friend of mine. She had made some Kac-Kac using a recipe from your blog.

I really enjoy your site. I see you have a few recipes for halawa. Another friend, an American (married to a Somali) brought me some halawa one day. YUMMY! When I heard of this, I told her that's an Arabic word for sweet and she said yep, that was this dessert was. I always knew halawa to be made for removal of hair or made as a sweet sesame paste! Oh, my ignorance! The somali halawa IS some of the yummiest stuff I ever had!

Anyhow, thanks for sharing your recipes.....I can't wait to try the potato and coriander sambusa! Sounds yummy!

Jazaki Allah Khair

P.S. MashaAllah your children are beautiful! :)

Thanks for the link to your blog.

I've never cooked Somali food before, but it certainly looks very appealing and my husband is brave enough to try anything I make, so I look forward to trying out your recipes! :)
